Thanks for this answer. I was actually thinking of the fact that great

saints like Sarada Devi and Ammachi gave mantras to all- women , men etc ..

but i guess in those cases the Guru takes the responsibility for the

disciple- i guess until and unless the Guru sanctions a particular path for

a disciple or waives a rule in case for a particular disciple, it is

obviously best to follow tradition.

 

though we have to discriminate as to what the vedas REALLY DID say and

what has come down owing to superstition/misinterpretation etc.
