Guest guest
Do stotras require initiation? Are there stotras that require initiation and others that do not? Devi Mahatmya as long as i know contains one or two stotras but Devi Mahatmyam itself requires initiation. What about stotras like Mahishasuramardini Stotram, Ashtalakshmi Stotram, Annapurna Ashtakam and Mahalakshmyashtakam?

Depends on the stotra. As a thumb rule we can say all stotras which dont have Bijaksharas(like hriim, shriim etc)dont need initiation. Some stotras have a phala shruti at the end, and that specifies any special rules or restrictions for reciting that particluar stotra. > Devi Mahatmya as long as i know contains one or two stotras but >Devi > Mahatmyam itself requires initiation. > What about stotras like ***Mahishasuramardini Stotram, Ashtalakshmi > Stotram, Annapurna Ashtakam and Mahalakshmyashtakam***? The above stotras(those between stars)do not require any initiation. All stotras(excluding anything which says upanishad, suktam and MulaMantraatmaka Baala stuti) listed on http://www.ambaa.org , do not require any initiation to recite. That is a lot of choice.... rgds
