Namaskar

This is really a good version and I am very glad to see the final lines.

Let us spread the love and brotherhood philosophy of our sanathana dharma.

sri ambaaldevotee-,

with all due respects, let me state here that we are discussinbg two

different issues...

differnt gods accept differnt offerings...

Bholenath shiva shankar lord shiva is pleased with 'abisekham.' -

that is why one worships shiva linga with 'milk' abishekha...

Lors shiva is also equally happy with the offerings of 'bilva leaves.

Have you heard of the famous Kannappa nayanar story? the hunter who

offered 'meat offerings' to the shiva linga? kannapa nayanar is one

of the saiva saints...

Lord vishnu is alankara priya - he loves ostentatious paegentry - so

you will see in vishnu temples that lord vishnu is always dressed up

in gorgeous silks, shiningg jeweelery and elaborate flower garlands

etc.

lord ganapathy is delghted when you offer him 'modakam' or

kozhakottai - a typical tamilian preperation -

krishna bhagwan is fond of 'butter' and sweets... that is why he is

called 'butter thief' - makahan chor.

in dakshineshwar temple In calcurtta, for the longest time, goat

sacrifices were made to the divine mother kali during durga puja.

shri ramakrisha was the officiating priest at the dakshineshwer

temple.

btw shri ramakrishna and swami vivekananda themselves consumed 'fish'

a staple food of bengallees.

Shirdi sai baba used to cook two kinds of offerings for his devottes -

'meat offerings for the muslims and vegetarian offerings for the

hindus - in sai charita. it is stated he had both hindus and muslim

devotees.

in bhagwati amman temples in kerala, 'chicken; is offered to bhagwati

amman.

I am a brahmin - i am a iyer - i am a tamilian - i do not eat meat-

BUT THE WHOLE POINT OF NARRRATING ALL THIS aHIMSA IS NOT JUST NOT

EATING MEAT.

ahimsa is also not hurting others in thought, word and deed. mahtama

gandhi practiced this in every sphere - he was a pure vegetarian . he

was a gret devotee of lord rama. bhagwat gita was his bible. he

praciced 'ahimsa' in every way ....

i am not suggesting we should offer animal sacrifices to god/ess ...

far from it...

in many places in india, goat sacrifices are now beling replaced

by 'pumpkin' and coconut offerings.

In chandogya upanishad, there is mention of animal sacrifices..

when we talk of bali - we are talking of sacrificing our 'ego'

and 'pride ' (ahamkara)

The divine mother is very kind - karuna mayee - dayaa mayee - she is

equally pleased with elaborate and simple offerings... Mother kali is

pleased with offerings of 'hibiscus flowers.' our beloved Maatani

devi is delighted with 'kadamba' flowers- kadamba vana vasini.

in kalika purana, there is a whole chapter devoted to 'animal

sacrifices'

ayyayair herself offered to lord muruga fruit after tasting it.

sabari offered berries' to lord rama with love.

yes, our periyaval eats only sattwic food . shri ramana did the same

thing. in fact, he looked after his cow lakshmi in the ashram like

his own mother.

But different god/esses are worshipped differently according to local

customs and cultures.

shri krishna paramatma himself says in shrimad bhagwat gita - 'if a

devotte offers me with love and devotion a fruit, flower, leaf or

water, i will accept it."

Animal sacrifices are not recommended nor are human sacrifices. bbut

in some parts of india , these are still taking place. sad, very sad.
