They saw Him, who has a thousand heads, a thousand feet, and a thousand arms; with matted locks and a crescent moon on his forehead. (*) vasAna.n charma vaiyAghra.n shUlAsaktamahAkaram.h . daNDapaNi.n trayInetra.n sUryasomAgnilochanam.h .. 9 .. They saw Him, the Lord who has is clothed in tiger's skin, who has the Sun, Moon and Fire as his three eyes and who holds a trident and a staff. The tattvAryastavaH on Lord Nataraja says : "vaiyAghrapAdabhAgya.n vaiyAghra.n charma ka.nchana vasAnam.h" brahmANDa.n tejasA sarvamAvR^itya cha sthitam.h . da.nShTrAkarAla.n durddharSha.n sUryakoTisamaprabham.h .. 10 .. They saw the Lord who has filled the universe with his radiance, with fear-some teeth and effulgent like a crore suns. aNDastha.n chANDabAhyastha.n bAhyamabhyantara.n param.h . sR^ijantamanalajvAla.n dahantamakhila.n jagat.h . nR^ityanta.n dadR^ishurdeva.n vishvakarmANamIshvaram.h .. 11 .. They saw Him, who is both within the outside the Egg (the Brahmanda), who is creating immense heat as if burning the entire universe and who is the creator of the universe (Visvakarmanam). (this verse not clear) mahAdeva.n mahAyoga.n devAnAmapi daivatam.h . pashUnA.n patimIshAna.n jyotiShA.n jyotiravyayam .. 12 .. They saw Mahadeva, (the great God), embodiment of great Yoga, God of the Gods, Master of all living beings (Pasupati), the undying (eternal) light. pinAkina.n vishAlAkSha.n bheShaja.n bhavarogiNAm.h . kAlAtmAna.n kAlakAla.n devadeva.n maheshvaram.h .. 13 .. (They saw Him,) the wielder of the Pinaka (bow), with large eyes, the remedy (bheShajam.h) for the afflictions of sa.nsAra, the destroyer of Yama, God of the Gods, the Supreme God. umApati.n virUpAkSha.n yogAnandamaya.n param.h . j~nAnavairAgyanilaya.n j~nAnayoga.n sanAtanam.h .. 14 .. (They saw Him,) the Lord of Uma, Virupaksa (with an odd number of eyes ? like viShamekShaNAya in the ardhanArIshvarastotram) of the nature of (Yogic) bliss and the abode of supreme knowledge and renunciation.
