SUB : DAKSHINACARA (DC) AND VAMACARA ( VC) -- DIFFERENCES

DEVI IS SUPREMELY BEAUTIFUL AND ADORABLE IN BOTH WAYS :

(DC & VC). This is confirmed in the 912 mantra of the L.S as " SAVYAPA SAVYA

MARGASTHA ". Savyam indicates Vedic worship and apasavyam through tantric.

Dakshina means the deity with the right knowledge. It also means dexterous which

in content connotes the skill of the right knowledge is inherent in the right

hand way known as Dakshinacara. It is also the skill born out of right knowledge

in THOUGHT, WORD and DEED. DC is considered by the wise, more reliable and

better option because it accepts THE EQUALITY OF SIVA and SAKTI.

( samarasya)

VAMA means the EXCELLENT or the deity of secret knowledge and sadhaks are known

as Vamacari . Vama also means the giver of the excellent fruits of pure acts.

Devi is fondly attached to the very good path.

THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN DC AND VC ARE ;

Dc accepts absolute equality of siva and sakti. VC believes in the

predominance of sakti. Siva is involved in Sakti as represented in KALI.

Dc -- the goal of aspirant is to awaken kundalini in sahasrara and worship

HER ONLY in sahasrara . Vc trusts that the power of kundalini after reaching the

sahasrara gives the SUPREME BLISS, returns back to the muladara and swathistana

chakra where SHE is worshipped.

Dc the risi is Dakshinamurthy and Kameswara Kamesvari are the Devatas where

as for Vc Bhairava is the Risi and Anandabhairava and Anandabhairavi are the

deities.

Dc-- The authority for the practice comes from SUBHAGAMAS and for Vc is based

on TANTRAS such as Kularnava, Vamakeswara Tantra and KALIKA PURANA etc.

Dc-- The base is from KALPA SUTRAS and the SRICHAKRA is worshipped as SRISHTI

CHAKRA. For Vc-- based on the tantras SRI CHAKRA is worshipped as SAMHARA

CHAKRA.

Dc--Beliefs and practices are also known as Samayacara and Vc -- the beliefs

and practices are also known as Kaulacara.

Dc-- The spiritual aspirant worships the Divine Mother with out neglecting or

defaulting the VEDIC INJUNCTIONS where as Vc makes obalations to Ambaal which

is not necessarily prescribed by the Vedic injunctions as per the Kaula

traditions.

Dc practices are straight, sure difficult and results steady and slow. Vc

--practices are arduous, complex and complicated but yielding quick results.

Dc -- suitable for a common man of all varnashrama but Vc -- is only

suitable to YOGIS who are jitendriyas masters of their sense organs. BUT Vc is

PROHIBITED FOR A BRAHMIN EVEN IF HE IS A YOGI ( see SRI SRI Appaya Dikshatar's

commentary on the subject) .

It is compulsory to do the upasana of MAHA MAYA,SARADA AND SYLAPUTRI in

dakshina marga only.
