Nagar, Chennai 600 017 Contact Ph: 044-28157926 / 22345287 February 24, 2003 Dear Friend, Mahakumbhabhishekam of 2-Adishtanams of Sri Chandrikananda Natha Swamigal and Sri Anandaganananda Natha Swamigal (ardent Ambaal Upasakaas) located at Puliyur Village, was conducted on 19th February 2003, in a grand manner. Our Samiti had taken up renovation of these two temples. The renovation/construction work began in September 2002. It involved construction of a new Maha Mandapam (about 500 sft), with repairing of southern side compound wall, laying of front platform, and surrounding prakaram. Both the Gopurams were renovated/repainted; additionally 1 set of Nandis (bulls) and Anna Pakshis (swans) and an idol of Sri Rajarajeswari Ambaal were installed on top of the Mandapam (front side). Walls and flooring of both the Garbha Grihas were mosaic-tailed. Only electrical wiring is pending which will be carried out before the Mandalaabhishekam in first week of April 2003. The Kumbabhishekam rituals started on 18th Feb morning with Vanca Kalpa Ganapathi Homam and Abishekam to Sri Vara Siddi Vinayagar, Navagraharam/Vaastu Homams and Anguraarpanam, along with Sri Krishna Yajur Veda Paraayanam. Kumbakonam Mantra Murthy Brahmasri K. Dinakara Sarma presided the team of 20 Vedic scholars. In the afternoon, we had a Carnatic Music concert by Chidambaram Dikshidhar Group. In the evening, first kaalam of Yagasala Poojas were conducted which concluded with 9 Sumangali Pooja and 9 Kanya Pooja and Dhampati Pooja to Musiri Periyawal Brahmasri P.S. Anandanarayana Vajapeyi who graced and added divinity to the whole 2-day functions by his august presence. On both days, worship of Mother, Sri Lalita Maha Tirupurasundhari through Navavarana Pooja and Sri Vidya Homam (incl. elaborate 8 Aamnaya manthras) was the core activity in the Yagasala. On 19th Feb. morning, 2-Kaala Yaga Poojas started at 7 am. Brahmasri Vajapeyi spoke of the need to conduct regular Yajnams/poojas to obtain Gods’ blessings and in return rains, direly needed through out Tamil Nadu. Mahapoornahuti was offered at 9.30 am. Procession of Kalasams started 9.45 am and Maha Kumbhabhishekam to both the temples were conducted at 10.05 am. Subsequently, Maha Abishekam to the deities was conducted at 11 am and Prasadam distributed at 11.30 a.m. during which time the people who were closely involved including the civil contractor, sthapathi and others were honoured. Anna Daanam was performed on both 18th evening and 19th morning, besides prasadams were distributed on both the days at the temple.
