SUB : SRUK AND SRUVA

Sruk is a ladle with a slightly pointed wooden bowl and Sruva is also a

collateral boel with a wider base ( rectangular ) used for homas and yagnas.

· The yagna drivya is taken through sruk and poured into the fire

uttering the mantras. Fire ,substances and the ladle are three important things

required in homa. In a homa these are respectively SUPREME REALITY,THE BODY

CONSTITUTING THE FIVE ELEMENTS SENSE,THE OBJECTS OF THE SENSES AND THE MIND.THE

SRUK IS THE CETANA,AWARENESS that functions as the ladle. This cetana is para

sakthi without the grace of her the yagna can not complete.

· SRUVA IS ALWAYS USED WITH SRUK.and represents the absorption of

objective to subjective consciousness. This is the process of rising while

descending that is descending from subjective to objective consciousness with

full awareness of the SELF.

Can someone explain the significance of srk-sruvam used in Homams and Yagnas ?

I heard sruk-sruvams made from different woods have different significance. As

well, what is the significance of the face of cow/buffalo in sruk ? Can we have

other faces also ? If so, what does each face signify ?
