Guest guest
namaste As Harsha points out any sanskrit text if read and written in Tamil and when it comes back will be full of errors. This was the reason why kAnchi paramaacharya, shrii shrii chandrashekarendra sarasvatii swaminaH urged Tamil aastika-s to use grantha script for reading and writing sanskrit. In fact, from next year, by aacharya's grace we are planning to start keeping grantha version of some of the documents in www.ambaa.org. To this effect, a lot need to be done. 1st task is to create a unicode grantha font. Also, please see the following for an introduction to basic grantha alphabets. (I created this file by a crude insert symbol method, hence, could not get the .r construction in words like kavargam.h correctly) http://www.ambaa.org/download/grantha1.pdf See the file how the brahmasuutrabhaashya beginning note by shankara will look in grantha (this small selection is taken from a book on netlibrary by Sri Venugopalan). http://www.ambaa.org/download/brs_selection.gif I think using grantha is better that using sub/super scripted numbers as in http://www.ambaa.org/download/lalita_1000_tamil.ps (I had trick ITRANS to get this, hence the number is prefixed instead of being a suffix). It is lot easier to pronounce correctly with a new symbol than with number attached to an alphabet. I am saying this based on my personal experience. I also think that grantha without samyuktaaxara-s will be lot easier to read, but still some samyuktaaxaras are so beautiful to look at and they are compact.
