Dear Devotee,

I thank you for your very kind words , which encourages me to put a few lines on

the subject of upachara. I am indeed very happy to know that you are planning to

buy the ornaments as indicated in my mail.

Pl be assured that my mail -- every word is authoritative on the subject and

the contents are not mine ( I am only a Cyber Post Man bringing you the Post )

but the knowledge of my Pujya Guruji (for homa) Dr. GODA VENKATESWARA SASTRIGAL

..M.Sc CAIIB -- Sahitya -- Mimamsa - Nyaya - Vedanta siromani - Advaita Siddhi

Ratnakara - Vidya Varidhi etc etc honoured several times simultaneously by Sri

Mutt and Kanchi Mutt with several awards , a very great Devi Devotee , a great

orator, a super super specialist in Vedas, Vedantas and an ocean of knowledge in

Sri Vidya. Any body who follows the spiritual notes in the daily Hindu must have

definitely heard his name. It is indeed Devi's blessings to be known to such

Maahans

I would not like to mislead any devotee in this group if I am not sure of an

answer or take comfort through convincing arguments, as it would be a disservice

to the eternal children of divine Mum of this motivated group. .I have dealt on

this point as I have few private mails on the subject from very learned members

of this group expressing doubt or asking for clarifications on the upachara

Content (specially the additional 8 ) as per Baskararaya's Varivsya Rahasyam

and also on Certain Bedhas as per Dakshinamurthy Samhita as per my mail.

I am only a Parrot repeating what our great masters have given to us, with an

open spiritual patent, which envisages free for all usage of the eternal Cosmic

knowledge -- Truth-- the intellectual property discovered out of millions of man

years of hard tapas disregarding the basic needs of a human (involving so many

births) as opposed to the commercial patents. I wonder for this reason may be

the Jeevan mukta even at birth -- the great Sukar son of Veda Vyasa had a mouth

like a Parrot to repeat what was told.

I would like to share with you my experience for the benefit of

devotees who would like to buy these ornaments. For those living in Dubai,

Muscat many miniatures of these ornaments are available in pure gold like the

crown, bangles, ring, ornaments for the waist, forearm etc etc. Thanks to the Rich

Great Gujarati community settled in this part of the world before 150 yrs, who

adore Lord Krishna and use most of the ornaments as applicable to devi for

decorating Lord Krishna Vighraha in their house. I bought some of the items

after lot of study.

Similarly beautiful miniatures can be made in pure silver and can be gold plated

upto ten microns for items like Kanchi Dhaman,Kati Sutram, pada katakam ratna

nupuram,Pasam, Angusham, pushpa Banam etc ctc. I got this made in Trivandrum from

a silver smith. Some of the items like the umbrella, mirror, fan etc are readily

available in all major Indian cities (for use in temples). For items like the

small garments for devi I would recommend Bombay as you get beautiful and

colourful dresses. Even for devotees who like to buy less expensive items gold

covered or plated items, these are available in plenty in

mumbai, bangalore, chennai ( at mumbai Near Mumba devi Temple -- a very

big market for Spiritual items)

In a later mail I would like to share with the devotees, my experiences and tips

in procuring many hard ware from various parts of India used for puja like the

Mantapam,Good majestic Lamps (Kerala lamps), sakshi deepam,Mani (bell),the 16

different lamps like the rishaba deepam,Simha deepam, surya deepam, chandra

deepam,purusha deepam,naga deepam,hamsa deepam, mayura deepam,gaja

deepam,gayathri deepam,,pancha muka deepam,eka arti,alankara deepam,purna kumbha

deepam etc. specially the lamps can leak due to minute cracks or the groves

loosely fitted or it may not stand straight etc

I tend to spend lot of time looking for good quality workmanship and apparent

defects as most of the shops in India are not quality conscious and the price

also differs. For Example a good Valampuri Sangu (konch) at rameswaram is

available for rs 400 and the same costs rs 4,000 in mumbai. I saw Maha Meru

with good workmanship at hyderabad. The good Conch used for blowing is available

in Calcutta -- traditionally in Bengal as every house hold blow the conch after

lighting the lamps for God. For the bell one should look at the workmanship of

the Nandikeswar who protects the nav varana puja (ref ; ghanta Puja and Bali)

and also the quality of sound of the bell. Similarly good mantapams made of rose

wood are available at Udipi in Karnataka. In delhi good silver ware is

available. Similarly for the Vigragas, copper plates, homa kundas, stands etc ctc

lot can be written. In Rajastan a particular place near Jaipur is very famous

for making idols our of very good quality marbles. Similarly the tanjore and

mysore paintings etched with gold folis are very beautiful and pleasing. A

serous devotee who can afford should consider buying.

The sixteen lamps as aforesaid are to be shown in a particular order with

specific Vedic Mantras. After lot of efforts I could get these mantras duly

recorded from a Ghanpadigal as Swaras are important. I can share this if

somebody wants .pl write private mails.

The entire Engineering knowledge, which the humans have, is nothing but derived

from the cosmic master engineer Viswakarma.

Vijaya Ganapathiji,

Thanks a lot for the wonderful description of the upacharas. It was as if I was

offering AMMA all these things in my house back in India.

I have one thing to ask you. While reading I felt that I should take a print out

of this mail, buy some silver wear (such as an umbrella, a fan etc) and do

upachara in my house and then later read Lalita Sahasranamam. The question is

can I do it. I desperately want to do the ritual and tell my family what each

one means while doing it. My parents will be really happy.

Kindly continue your postings on such beautiful things. You are blessed in

having such knowledge and even more blessed to share it with us. I really feel

very happy and want to do something for you. Please tell me if I can be of any

help to you in any way. I can pray for you.

take care.

with regards and prayers,

Srilakshmi
