: Navakshari and Lalitha Sahasranama

 

 

 

 

 

Sometime during Dec 2001, my wife Vijaya had the good fortune of participating

in the “ Sahasra Chandi Homam “ conducted in Shree Matam at Kanchipuram = Tamil

nadu In august presence of both the Holiness.

 

When the Homa was going on one side, on the other side there was an assembly of

about 200 upasakas chanting the Navakshari mantra along with each namavali of

Lalitha shasranama and doing the archana. As per Vijaya’s experience -- the

whole atmosphere was so charged and serene, a sincere devotee felt that he/she

was in SRI NAGRAM before Ambaal.

 

Moved by this experience, I had also implemented this procedure for doing LS

archana on Pournami and other days when there is sufficient time. I have felt

the vibrations of the mantra and immensely befitted as you experience an unique

peace.after the puja.

 

Since Chandi Devi is quick to give results in kali uga, This procedure would be

particularly useful to devotees asking Devi for a particular wish but again

would like to emphasise from my side—She knows what is good for you and leave it

to her.

 

General notes:

 

· The Chandi Navakshari mantra can be prefixed before the namavali of LS

when it is called YOJANA and when it prefixed and suffixed with the LS namavali

in the middle it is called Samputikarana.

 

· It takes about 55 minutes for yojana LS archana and 90 minutes for

samputikarana archana.

 

· When it is done as a small group, it is recommended that each devotee

should have either flowers or akshadai for doing the archana though it is not

compulsory.

 

· It is likely that all the devotees of the group would not have been

initiated and in that circumstance, pl discourage the uninitiated devotees from

chanting Navakshari but they can join the LS namavali.

 

· Navakshari Mantra for this particular purpose can be Chanted loudly and

the normal rules of mantra Japa does not apply. ( as observed in the mutt )

 

· In the Sankalpa pl add “ Sri Lalitha Maha Tripura sundari Prasada

Sidhyarte Chandika Navakshari ---

 

Yojana or Samputikarana ( as the case may be ) Lalitha Sahasranama Archhane

viniyogaha "

 

 

 

The Devi Mahtmeeyam parayanam should be done atleast on ashtami,navami and

Krishna chaturdashi. It is suggested to do this type of archana on these days

for the devotees running short of time for parayana. It would be beneficial to

follow this route during

Navarathries,pournamasi,panchaparvas,amavasya.dakshinayana and uttarayana punya

kalams apart from Fridays.

 

 

 

Tip : Good quality KumKum is available only at certain places. in other places

though the kumkum may look sparklingly bright may be mixed with Dyes specially

..At Chennai in mylapore I recommend a shop -- is known as srividya Kumkum shop.

They have been selling pure kumkum for last 100 yrs with the blessings of

perivaal.

 

The point I want to make is one shouldensure the quality and pureness from a

known source before buying as the colour itself is no guarantee for pureness.
