Guest guest
Sub : THE HUMAN MIND and SRI VIDYA MANTRA In the last mail, I had posted what are the qualities of these three Gunas . It is said from the mind comes the thought, from the thought the actions and from the actions, you have the character. So while living it is important to develop the right quality of mind . HOW DO YOU DO IT !!!! A thamasic mind is full of ignorance, darkness , inertia ,heaviness -- the brute state. in this state it lacks in power to discriminate between the right and wrong and is carried away by lower animal instincts. A rajasic mind is ignorant with ego, excessive ambitions or passions full of arrogance and discontent. This mind is always involved in excessive activity, unrest -- the sole purpose is to fuel the ego further and further to locate the summit of ego and finds no summit in the process. A sattvic mind is the concentrated state of mind that is serene and illuminated. This state leads to communion with the Ambaal. Let us understand what Baghwaan Sri Ramana said about the control of mind. The mind is mysterious having the 3 gunas as aforesaid. In the rajasic and thamasic state it is fully diversified. In the Satvic state it remains pure and uncontaminated. The mind is like the Akasha ( ether ) and as there are numerous objects out in the universe, the mind is crowded with thoughts. One cannot hope to count the objects there, as it is impossible to measure the universe and study the phenomena. Doing so is like trying to catch one's shadow or the pranks of a monkey and a mirror. The universe is only an object created by mind and has its being in the mind. The thoughts and desires are a part and parcel of the mind and the only way to control is to Self Investigate and finding its source, when the mind will fade away and then you should hold on to it. Any artificial control is useless, as it would not have a lasting benefit. Misery is only in mind and is due to the existence of objects. If the objects are not there, the misery is wiped off. The next question is how will the objects ceased to be. If you investigate the matter and ascertain the truth, one would conclude that the objective world is the subjective Consciousness only. The Self is thus the reality which permeates and envelops the world. Sri Ramana goes further to say Abhyasa or the reflection to the Self should be done whenever you are disturbed by thoughts. He Emphasises here the importance of DHYANA , BHAKTI ,JAPA ,PUJA etc as it keeps out the multiplicity of thought to a SINGLE THOUGHT which eventually dissolves into self. What in Vedanta is known as ATMA or SELF is known as AMBAAL in Srividya sastras. So to remove the mind from multiplicity of thoughts is to get the initiation of the mantra from a guru. The quickest way to have a realisation of the deity is through the SRIVIDYA mantras like THE BALA - NAVAKSHARI -- PANCHADASHI -- SHODASHI. Mantra is in not merely letters. When the transcendent Shiva -- Shakthi desired to manifest out of its own volition there is a stir and throb producing the Sound (nada ) which is the origin of whole creation. The spiritual masters heard these after intense penance and have revealed the secrets for the humanity out of compassion. The Rishis become the mantra Drushtas and not mantra Kartas. The mantra is not a means to contact the deity but enshrines the deity -- deity itself and reveals Her. It is the sound body of the deity having a remarkable co relation with the body of the deity that is reflected in the Dhyana or meditation. Therefore mind is nothing but a reflex -- of that one power known as SRI VIDYA , one intelligence and one mind Known as SRI VIDYA and our mind is nothing but a reflex of that universal mind. So long as our mind works apart from that universal mind in the rajasic and thamasic state -- it remains unintelligent, powerless and ignorant. But when it becomes united with it through the SRI VIDYA UPASANA -- it attains complete illumination after which no gain seems greater -- being established there no man is overwhelmed even by greater sorrow. That is the SATTVIC mind. The sastras confirm that one gets into the path of Srividya Upasana when very few births are left and such a person who has done a Srividya sadhana in his earlier births starts spiritually again from the point where he left in his earlier birth and he/she alone gets initiated in the lore of Srividya. So AMBAAL nurtures such a person from the childhood both materially and spiritually -- because before he/she has chosen this path, SHE HAS CHOSEN to be HER devotee. We have numerous personal experiences in this life to confirm this TRUTH. TRANSFORMATION TAKES TIME -- the secret of worship is to learn to wait on the deity in adoration. He who knows how to wait becomes the MASTER OF TIME.
