dear sri anand,

you ask ,

"Can somebody explain the direct and inner meanings and explanation

of the name ROHITH as it appears in Sri Rudram as 'Rohithaya

sthapathaye'."

in sri rudran, this is the verse

Namo Rohitayatha patye vrikshanam pataye namah|

word by word meanng

Rohitaya = possessing Red colour; Sthapataye = seated on the trees

and protecting them, To him Rudra; Namah = Salutation; Vrikshanam =

For trees; pataye = The Lord; To him Namah = Salutations.

Salutations to Rudra who in colour is red, the king, and the head of

trees.

this is is the meaning. rohit refers to red color.

more interpretations are welcome.

hello Anand,

Namo Rohithaya - Salutations to the RED one (Crimson colored) ...

Salutations to the red one, the lord.... Sthapathaye - Lord who protects the

places..

...... this follows after the lordship of the woods (trees) by rudra, one of

his colors RED is also mentioned. Red may be likened to copper color also.

while all the commentators explain it as red, Bhaskara quotes some as saying

" He who is gracious, unto good speakers, like wise men, ambassadors, etc..

or lives in their forms..."

One Mr. K T Shubhakaran interprets the CODED inner MEANING of the four lines

following this yajus (9 to 12) of Anuvaka 2 to mean as follows:

"Painful boils in the armpit can be cured by emptying the body by

evacuations with the help of purgatives like Shatapushpi and applying the

decoction prepared by boiling the fluid like froth existing in the Rohithaka

tree and reciting this mantra..."

Hope you find this useful...
