No they are totally different, this mistake is because the mantra's are similar( ie the same mantra) but the dhyana sloka gives the bala as with once face, four arms seated on a blooming blue lotus, while kulasundari has six faces-three eyed and twelve arms, seated on a boat. Guest guest
o Sub : BALA TRIPURA SUNDARI (BTS) AND KULA SUNDARI NITHYA (KSN ) o The main difference between BTS and KSN can be summarised in a nutshell from a hymn from "TAITTTRIYA UPANISHAD " . This particular hymn is chanted and popular while doing Karpoora Arti to Devi or any God for that matter. The Hymn goes as……." NA TATRO SURYO BHATI NA CHANDRA TARAKAM………….. VIBHATI" Meaning : Although the sun, stars, and other luminaries are said to be self luminous yet they do not shine forth of themselves, but they shine by the light of Supreme. Here the Sun--Stars ---are the KSN and BTS the Supreme. o Lalitha Para Bhattarica is contemplated by a upasaka as a seven year old charming girl in BTS and She is the very para Brahman. Her miniscule energy is contemplated as KSN on the thithi Shukla Paksha Navami and Krishna Paksha Sapthami. (Sri Lalitha is also contemplated as taruni, Suvaasini etc.) o The manthra for BTS - " IM-KLEEM-SOWHU "and the mantra for KSN - " Lum-IM-KEEM-SOWHU -Lum Kula sundari Nithya Namaha. So the mantrhra is not same for both. o Bala is also contemplated in many ways as Bala -- Ekkakshari, Bala - tryaakshari, Bala- Shadaakshari, Yoga Bala Navakshari, and her letters (Beejam ) is also added to Panchadaskshari when it is known as Sow Bhagya panchadashi manthra. My father used to discourage me taking to Upasana for the sole reason that the sadhak may go mad if he is not strong enough and mentally be prepared, when the deity appears in dream or in the waking state as a result of sadhana. Initially I could not understand what he meant. After going through the scriptures, I could understand what he meant. Suddha Panchadashi mantra contemplates her as Taruni -- an eternal young lady where as, for the majority Sadhaks GURU only initiates Sowbhagya Panchadashi embedding the BALA mantras in the panchadashi and even when Ambaal appears as explained, she would be only as 7 year old girl ..The sadhak would not be deluded as a result. She is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL and there can be no comparison in any earthly sense. o I wish to add here, in the most popular Tamil Hymn in praise of Lord Subrahmanya -- "Skandar Shasti Kavacham " - bala mantra is hidden in the middle of the hymn as " iyyum Kileum Kileyum sowwum " and that is one of the reason for the popularity and power of the Hymn which answers all the devotee's earnest asking. o BTS is Maha Nithya whereas KSN is only a Nithya. Maha Nithya means beyond time and eternally Exisiting and is the very Atma. A specific time period is nithya--as KSN is the energy of the day on Shukla navami and Krishna Pakshsa sapthami. If one wants to further study on nithyas -- the Tantra Raja Tantra describes comprehensively the Dhiyana,Rupa, yantra,Puja Vidhi of all the thithi Nithyas. o The Dhiyana Shloka of BTS contemplates Her as -- The one who spreads her Red radiance in all directions and the one holding the Japa Mala in one hand and a Book on the other hand with the Abhya mudra and Vara mudra sitting on Kalhara flower bestowing Mangala on the devotee be visible in my heart. ( this is may not be an expert translation but could be useful for the purpose of this article ). o KSN Dhiyana shloka contemplates her as six faces and twelve arms -- The one who is propitious, supremely kind and with six lotus like faces and with three eyes in each face. She is red seated on lotus and smeared with blood. Her shakthies are red and carries in her hands a rosary of coral beads, a lotus, a kamandalu made of gems, a drinking cup made of gems, full of wealth, a lemon and with one hand she makes a gesture of explanation. In the left hand she has a book, a red lotus, a golden pen, a conch shell a garland of gems. She makes vara mudra and surrouded by devas, Gandharvas, yakshas , raakshas and like……. o KSN parivara Devathas are pasha,saraswathi,vaani,samskrutha,praakrutha,para,katgarupa,viddarupa,ramya,anan\ da and kowduka.KSN Yantra as it appears to me very slightly differs from BTS -- in the central circle as appears from the drawing I have. This central circle is only HALF DRAWN as SEMI CIRCLE and does not have the lower portion of the circle. ( pl do not ask me any technical question on this as I am an ignorant child of Devi muttering something). o BTS upasana is also also known as Laghu Srividya upasana and the spiritual aspirant is initiated with Guru Paduka Mantra which is a MUST for SriVidya upasana. In short HER upasana is for the ultimate purpose of all lives of all Jivaas -- THE MOKSHA (She knows what to give as Bhoga for the aspirant ) o KSN upasana is done exclusively for all kamya karmas specially -- for attainment of learning and scholarly knowledge.riches and wealth and winning over the enemies. (Bhoga ) I would like to conclude this article with an unforgettable incident reported. Recalling an incident in the life of MAHA PERIVAAL at SALEM -- Tamil Nadu. When perivaal was doing the Tripura sundari Sametha Chandra Moulieeshwara puja, a girl of five sitting on a mother's lap, started crying suddenly demanding that she be provided with a green paavadai (frock) and the girl was directing her hand to wards perivaal which none understood. Not knowing the significance, the mother and other devotees there, tried to calm the child with some toys, fearing the disturbance in the midst of puja. she went on insisting on it which attracted perival's attention. Perivaal immediately summoned one of his aides and asked him to fetch a new green frock for the girl. This was promptly done and the child was quietened, however on the same day at about three in the noon the child passed away. When this was reported to perivaal, It was later on learnt that the child saw literally " Bala Tripura Sundari with green silk paavadai " seated on the lap of Maha Perivaal as a seven year old girl at the time of puja. When the little girl witnessed her with the all Sathwic mind of a child , her LAST JANMA -LAST Birth was over-- jivaathma merging with the paramathma, Supreme Lalitha Maha tripura Sundari.
