- "uLLatthor koDumai vaiththu" probably can be translated as "keeping

wickedness in mind". Horror does not bring out the meaning of the phrase.

 

- uyyak koLLay -- can be taken as [uyttu ennai aat]koLLaay. uyttal is to

uplift, save, or give moxa. aat koLLuthal is literally "taking over [and

providing grace]". Here nurturing is by providing jnAna about the Lord, to

receive his grace and ensure salvation.

 

- Like ladle which can not draw the liquid, the body (senses) cannot attain

its purpose without seeking Lord. This vaLLuvar points out in the verse

kOLil poRiyil guNamilave eNguNaththaan thaaLai vaNangaath thalai. [Like the

senses that are unable to perceive the respective objects, so is one's head

(life) who does not care to worship the Lord].
