Approximate translation:

SHE is the indweller of all. Whatever objects that are sought by different

living beings for the sake of their enjoyment, such as adorning themselves

ornamanents, etc. or eating delicous food, etc; all those objects of

enjoyment, which they think they spend their effort and obtain it for

themselves, it is actually for HER sake. Shruti says "For the sake [of the

joy of] Atman, one seeks pleasurable things"

Dear Shree Ravi,

I am confused on the aforesaid translation on the attribute of atma for several

reasons discussed below.

Atma though obvious is yet hidden. While our true nature is Absolute,

Existence,Consciusness and Bliss -- we forget our true nature - the bliss - by

wrongly identifying ourselves and clinging ( TRUE SELF OR DEVI CONSCOUSNESS )

with the body and look out in the universe outside ourselves for the bliss in

terms of seeking pleasures of senses, pleasures of the objects etc etc . As the

object itself is impermanent HOW can one derive the immortal bliss in these

objects and this is the reason of our births and rebirths.

The ATMA BODHA of Sri Shankara -- verse 18 is explained below.

The atman is always the king, distinct from the body, senses, mind, intellect --

all of which constitute the matter and is the mute witness of their functions.

The Atman is distinct from and beyond the physical constituents - equipments

constituted of the body, mind, and intelligence complex for it is this

illuminator, which lights the subtle workings of these equipments. In spite of

its close association it is a mere WITNESS and NEVER A PARTICIPANT === whereas

the observation in your statement says " the JOY OF THE ATMA -- objects of

enjoyment for Atma sake etc which is a bit ambiguous and pl correct my

understanding if wrong.

Atman is a witness of the DRAMA OF LIFE going on in this body and in the world

outside -- the micro -- macro cosmic existence. Atma is a the witness of the

play of matter. The ideas of good -- bad, knowledge of right- wrong, the feeling

of pleasure or sorrow, appreciation of beauty and ugliness, sense of duty --

neglect are all aspects of our subjective body and life. These experiences

constituted of knowledge, which we know and do not know -- the bhava and abhava

are all illuminated by that one AWRENESS the ATMA OR DEVI CONSCIOUSNESS. Despite

its energy and involvement IT STANDS ALOOF and does not identify itself with

what is happening in the entire cosmic order including within ourselves in the

different layers of matter.

IT IS NOT THE SHARER OF ANY EXPERIENCE. It is only an observer like the king in

his durbar hall, who only witnesses the drama and dance , a non partisan in all

the affairs and YET ALL POWERFUL.

I look forward to your comments on my understanding of the ATMAN.

" JAYA JAYA SHANKARA HARA HARA SHABKARA "

Ganapathy = = = Vijaya.

Ganapathy --- Vijaya

" Jai Bhavani " - - - - " Jai Sri Lalitha Maha Maha Tripura Sundari "

" Sarvam Shakti Mayam Jagath "
