Guest guest
This is a post in reply to a gentleman's query regarding this shloka. This Shloka invokes the Gurumandala that is very important in Srividya Krama. It deals with the Mantras of the Amnayas of Srividya. It is said that from the five faces of Sri Parameshwara, (Tatpurushaadi), the five Amnayas with their various mantras originated. The Sixth secret face of Parameshwara is what is termed 'Anuttara' and this is the seat of Parabrahma Shakti Mahatripurasundari. It is highly subtle and not revealed easily to a Sadhaka. The first four Amnayas (Purva, Dakshina, Pashchima, Uttara) are applicable to Panchadashi Upasakas. The eligibility for the higher two Amnayas i.e. Urdhwa and Anuttara is initiation into Shodashi and Purnabhisheka. Srinathadi gurutrayam - This refers to one's own Guru (Srinatha), Parama Guru and Parameshthi Guru. Ganapatim - The Mantra of Mahaganapati, whose Upasana is a must before even iniation into Panchadashi. Piithatrayam - The mantras for Jalandhara, Purnagiri and Kamaroopa Pithas, which are the first three Shakti Pithas of Amba, representing the trinity and their Shaktis - Mahakameshwari, Mahavajreshwari and Mahabhagamalini. The fourth Peetham, Mahodyana, the seat of Parabrahma Shakti Mahatripurasundari has to imagined in a state of transcedence over these three Peethas. Since the fourth represents the state of Turiya, it is imagined as existing in the state of absolute silence that exists between each of these Peethas, which are actually states of Chitta. Bhairavam - The mantras for eight Bhairavas starting with Mahamanthana Bhairava etc. Siddhaugham - The mantras for nine Siddhas starting from Mahadurmanamba Siddha etc. Vatukatrayam - The mantras for the three Vatukas (Brahmacharis or Bhairavas) - Skanda, Chitra and Virinchi Vatukas. Padayugam - The mantras for Prakasha Charana and Vimarsha Charana of Sridevi. Dutikramam - The nine (ten according to some tantras) Duti goddesses starting from Yonyamba, Yonisiddhanathamba etc. Mandalam - The mantras for Agni, Surya and Chandra mandalas. Vira - The mantras for the ten viras starting from Srishti bhairava etc. Then come the mantras for the 64 Siddhas starting with Mangalanatha etc. Navakam - The nine mudra mantras starting from Sarvasamkshobhini. Viravali Panchakam - The mantras for Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra, Ishwara and Sadashiva Viravalis. Malini - The Matrika Saraswati mantra. Mantraraja - Mantra Nrisimha mantra according to our Sampradya. Others follow Devi Taraka in its place. Gurumandalam: All the above said also form a part of guru mandala. The Gurumandala proper includes mantras for: Urdhwaugha Parugha Kamarajugha Lopamudraugha and paraaparugha. Each of these again have Divyaugha, Siddhaugha and Manavaugha Gurus in them. This shloka invokes all these deities who form the Amnaya Parivara and Gurumandala of Srividya Parabhattarika. The shloka 'Purvam dakshiNa pashchimottaramayaM ....' speaks about the 27 Rahasyas or secrets. The above mantras along with a few other esoteric additions and the numerous mantras of the 6 amnayas will constitute these 27 secrets of Srividya. Paramba priyatam. Guest guest
Namaste, As for the posts on Khadgamala and Srinathadi Gurutrayam, they have appeared in Srividya's ID. Srividya is a colleague and a dear friend of mine who has typed a lot of articles for my website. She is currently on a pregnancy leave and probably after i checked her mails yesterday, i forgot to log out. Hence these posts have appeared in her name. As for the meaning of Srinathadi: Yes Sri Ravi, it is true that it means the three Gurus, starting from Swaguru. I had a small correction. Viraavali and panchakam should not be read together as i wrote in the post earlier. The panchakam should be taken to mean Pancha panchika deities of Srividya. namaami shankara trayam! , "M. S. Guest guest
As Sri Ravi points out, the Shloka may mean starting from Sri Narayana (who incidentally is placed in Brahmavidya Parampara also - Narayanam padmabhavam...) who is Srinatha upto the Gurumandalam. It can also refer to Adinatha Sri Parameshwara since Sri Tatva or the Shodashi Sadakhya refers to Sri Parashakti and this makes Adinatha - Srinatha. However, generally the Tantras always refer to one's Swaguru as 'Srinatha'. Also since the Shloka is speaking of the Amnaya mantras of Srividya, which have been detailed in many Tantra scriptures, it is more relavent to consider this to mean one's Swaguru because the Purvamnaya lists the Gurutraya Vidya and does not mention the mantras or names of the entire lineage. jaya jaya shankara! , "harshanand_16" <harsha_ramamurthy@i...> wrote: > Namaste, > > As for the posts on Khadgamala and Srinathadi Gurutrayam, they > have appeared in Srividya's ID. I agree with you that this could be understood differently based on the context. And also, bowing to one's guru whole heartedly with bhakti is same as bowing to the entire lineage. Also, thanks for clarifying about shrividya mail-id. Ravi
