Guest guest
Some of you may know about a lot of on going (legal) ebook developments from the books that are going out of copyright. We, as devotee-s of shiva-dampati should make use of this. How? Any book that is published before 1923 is now out of copyright and it is in public domain. The complex set of rules that apply to this endeavor can be found at the Project Guttenberg page. http://promo.net/pg/vol/pd.html The first rule " .. Works first published before January 1, 1923 with proper copyright notice entered the public domain no later than 75 years from the date copyright was first secured. Hence, all works whose copyrights were secured before 1923 are now in the public domain. (This is the rule Project Gutenberg uses most often) " is the popular one. But there are complex set of other rules. What can we do? a) Find what exactly is the rule that is used in India. b) What books generally fall under the category of public domain c) Then make those books available to public freely. There are some efforts along this by different groups. For instance, www.sripedia.org is getting some books online (such as Thibaut's books on shankara and raamanuja bhaashhya of brahma suutras). I have 2nd edition of R. Ananthakrishna Shastry's LS translation, printed in 1925. I guess the 1st edition must before 1923. Then the 1st edition is now in public domain. Just FYI. Even if we do not have time to convert it, we can at least create a list of books on shiva dampati that are in public domain. Thank you. Guest guest
Kamakala Vilasa was first published in 1922. Contains commentary of Natananandanatha on the same. The 1953 edition contains Natha Navaratnamalika with Bhaskararaya's commentary Manjusha. English translation by Arthur Avalon. Not sure if Natha Navaratnamalika is included in first edition. rgds. , "Ravisankar S.
