Guest guest
Raghavendra Hebbalalu [hs_raghavendra] Friday, June 27, 2003 7:19 PM ravi A prayer in Kannada to the Divine Mother as Sharada namaste, I was browsing the ambaa site recently and saw that there were several prayers to the Divine Mother. My favorite rUpa is that of shrI shAradAmba. I had written a poem/prayer in Kannada a while ago on shrI shAradAmba. If you find it good enough, please include it with the other prayers. suprItAstu mahAmAtA| -rAghavendra Poem begins-- |shrIgaNeshashAradAsadgurubhyo namaH| shAradAvandana -------------- kamalajana hR^itkamalavAsini ! bhaktajanamanadiShTadAyini ! j~JAnajvAlini chAruhAsini ! kApu shArade buddhirUpiNi! ||1|| varSha sAvira kuLitu baredaru ninnayujvala amita chariteya sAladI pari stutiyu pOlvudu sAgarada jalabimduvomdanu ||2|| avatarise hari natara poreyalu iLiye shamkara yamana harisalu janara manadoLu vij~JAnavAgi pAlipe nI tAy sarvashrEShThaLu ! ||3|| jAgrat-svapna-suShuptiyennuva mUravastheya mIri nilluva satyAsatyava dATi mumdiha AtmadAtmavu nIne tAye! ||4|| A rough English translation: O One who resides in the lotus heart of the lotus born (Lord Brahma) ! O Granter of boons to devotees! O the Igniter of the lamp of knowledge! O One with the beautiful smile! Protect us! O shAradA who are of the form of buddhi! ||1|| (Note: the buddhi rUpiNi is from the saptashati yA dEvI sarvabhutEShu buddhirUpeNa saMsthitA |) Even if one were to write about Your Infinite Holy exploits (which again, are many) for a full thousand years, It would be hopelessly inadequate, O Mother, For it would resemble a tiny droplet in the ocean! || 2 || Many a time did descend Hari to protect the righteous! Shiva, too had to descend, to ward of Yama! But You, O Mother are the best of all ! Because You protect as the vijnAna (or the form of intellect as a Guide) in Your devotees ! || 3 || (Note : Lord Hari descended or incarnated several times to protect the righteous. Even Lord Shiva came to earth to protect his devotee Markandeya from Yama. But the Mother as powerful and all pervading as She is, protects all as the lamp of intelligence and knowledge the idea is that She guides even Hari and hara) Mother, You indeed transcend the three states of Wakefulness, Dream and Deep Sleep. You are above notions of truth and falsehood. And Are the Self of my self, O Mother! || 4 || (Here the Mother is seen as the Supreme Self who is in the turIyAvasthA and is beyond all relative considerations. She is the Self of everybody.) The first line can be used as a pallavi. This can be made to fit tishratripuTa tALa. SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.
