Guest guest
gurave sarva lokaanaanm bhishaje bhavarohinaam nidhaye sarva vidyaanaam sri dakshinaamurthaye nama ha // yo veda d auswara proktho vedante cha prathishttitha ha tasya prakriti leenasya ya f parasya maheshwara ha // shree gurubhyo nama ha [ today is guru poornimaa ] respected devotee, herewith , am describing vilakku pooja : [ 1 ] kutthu vilakku is lighted up, and placed in a suitable base like a brass thambaalam or a plantain leaf with raw rice [ as is usual in your home ]. [1a ] ganapathi pooja is performed as usual. [ 2 ] sri devi / ambaal / bhagavati is personified in the lamp [ parathishtta]. the devotee can imagine the presence in the jyoti of any form of devi[ parvati, mahalakshmi, durga , kuladevata --- ]. [ 3 ] the usual upacharas , viz., aawaahanam, arghyam, aachamaneeyam, snaanam, vastram, and a small naivedyam like a couple of bananas or grapes or similar fruit are offered. a small naivedyam [ offering ] is made to the devi. [ 4 ] now devi is present in front of you. she is full of daya for you and is ready to accept your pooja. [ 5 ] imagine her to be in the form closest to your heart [mother, sakhi, guru, kuladevata], and pray to her in the surrender mode. [ 6 ] now start archana using the 1008 lalita sahasranaamavali. u can use various flowers for the archanas. if flowers are unavailable, use akshathai, or kunkumam, or coins, thulasi-- [ 7 ] after the sahasra naama archana, u may top off with trishathi and/or lalitha ashtottharam. the pooja is concluded with the customary dhoopa/deepa/neivedya/karpoora neerajanam/ aarati. this may be performed by yrself at home. in the version i have said as "vilakku pooja", it is performed as a community event. a housefull of ladies assemble, each with her own kutthu vilakku lit in front of her, and the sahasra naamas are read out by a lead person. each lady has her own plate full of flowers or akshathai or kunkumam and she performs the archanai on her own lamp. this is a joint pooja . depending on the place available , and the partcipants, the pooja will flourish. the pooja is performed most auspiciously on fridays or tuesdays. the ladies here have one session in a month normally. during the month of aadi[ aashadha], they have it every friday. during navaratri, it was performed on all the nine days. in a recent event, one of the asthik groups performed this pooja in a school auditorium, with about 300 ladies partcipating. the pooja can be conducted in the morning time, or in the evenings. the pooja can be topped off with kirtans and bhajans. hope i have not been too presumtuous in giving too many details. sincerely yours, avk. ______________________ Want to chat instantly with your online friends?
