Guest guest
Dear Sri Jay Ram , Though there are rules and regulations on the Vighrahas , pl do not be unduly concerned and feel anxious about it as in practice almost in every hindu's house there is one or the other. you may take this as an ikon instead of a Vighraha having the divine energy. In that way rules and regulations may not apply ( opinion without adequate knowledge ). some persons feel a sudden change in their personal lives when a new idol arrives -- like health problems -- new financial or social problems which may be due to lack of worship and aradhana of a vighraha which has been worshipeed intensely earlier .. In such cases i have seen people reporting to HH Jayendra swamygal who use to advise the idol be handed over to an upasaka of that devatha or a closeby temple. Pl continue to do what you have been doing. regards Jay Raman <vjayar64 wrote: Just on this point, I have a question and seek clarification : Just about a Year ago, a relative of mine presented a Ganesha idol, made of black stone. The idol has been in our Puja room since then, I'm not aware of any special puja to be done, however have regularly presented Nivedyams in the form of fruits, and other sweet and basic routine like lighting lamp and saying few Ganesha Stothras. Is this practice enough ? From the messages that I've seen, should the idol be better placed in a temple than home ? Please clarify. Guest guest
I may not be qualified to say this but a vigraham irrespective of it's size can be kept at home. This should not cause any problems. Often times we have such statues as show items in a lot of houses and even in puja rooms. The rules such as, the height of the vigraham should not exceed greater than the fist and the thumb extending (very similar to the thumbs up sign) etc apply only for Prana Prathishtapanam, in which case a vigraham need not even be vigraham, it can even be a lump of clay! chanting Ganesha stothras (pancharathnams, astotharams etc..)is for oneself and not for the idol, the idol provides a means for the dhyanam. Offereing prasad and arati should not cause problems If one however feels uncomfortable the suggestion about leaving the idol at a nearby temple is a very good one. regards Vishwanthan --- ganapathy = = vijaya <srividya101 wrote: > Dear Sri Jay Ram , > > Though there are rules and regulations on the > Vighrahas , pl do not be unduly concerned and feel > anxious about it as in practice almost in every > hindu's house there is one or the other. you may > take this as an ikon instead of a Vighraha having > the divine energy. > In that way rules and regulations may not apply ( > opinion without adequate knowledge ). > > some persons feel a sudden change in their personal > lives when a new idol arrives -- like health > problems -- new financial or social problems which > may be due to lack of worship and aradhana of a > vighraha which has been worshipeed intensely earlier > > .
