Guest guest
Computation of raahu kaalam is based on Sun rise and Sun set times, hence will change from place to place. It is easy to write a C/C++ code to compute it. If you search the web you will find software for computing sun rise and set times. Codeproject.com has one (AFAIK, but never used it). Once you have that in place, rest is simple. On 14th Jan 2003 one of our members (Sri Krishnan, res04q7) sent me a excel sheet which will give you time periods, if you give the sun rise and set times. In that context Sri Krishnan wrote: -------- "Regarding Rahu Kalam computation, attached is a excel spreadsheet. One just needs to put the sunrise and sunset and it does the rest. (There is one bug in AM/PM, but that should not be a problem since Rahu Kala can never be after sunset.) The sunrise and sunset time for a specific location for any day can be got from http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.html" --------- You will find this file in and the name is KALAMS1.xls. --------------- Please note that there are commercially available panchanga software (for instance, pandiji -- again I have not used it) which will give all these details and in a nice format. ----------- vaidyanaaTha diixitiiyam says that time by itself does not directly lead to paapa or puNya. It is only by becoming a secondary limb or support to a karma, it leads to paapa or puNya. Hence, the inauspiciousness of a particular period of time depends on the karma in question.
