<puurvaM praadurbhavo maatustataH paTTaabhishhechanam.h

bhaNDaasuravadhashchaiva vistareNa tvayoditaH 2 >

 

Free Translation:

 

 

You described to me in detail, first the manifestation of mother

<:shrii :lalitaa :devii,> then her coronation, and the slaying of the

demon <:bhaNDa>

All the following comments are from <:saubhaagya :bhaaskara[2].>

 

* Commenting on the term <praatur bhaavaH,> <:shrii :bhaaskararaaya> states

before the creation there existed absolute non-dual consciousness --

<nirvesheshha chinmaatra praathamikaH,> he bases this conclusion on <shruti>

statements such as, <``asadvaa idamagra aasiit.h,''> < ``sadeva somyedamagra

aasiit.h,''> and <``naasadaasiinno sadaaasiit.''> In addition, he also

states that the evolution from that state to a manifested universe and the

primordial desire for creation has to be learnt only from a guru --

<kaamakalaaruupa pariNamo gurumukhaikavedyaH.>

 

* Continuing on the same term, manifestation of <:jaganmAtA> indicates her

<avataara> and arising out of sacrificial fire (<agni kuNDaat samutbhava

rupaH>).

 

* The word <paTTaM> means rulership over all the kingdoms in the universe --

<sakala bhuvana saamraajya adhikaaraM.>
