Guest guest
Namaskaaraas : It is not a shaaktha aashrama..it is the seat of advaitic truth. Sringeri has got it's name as follows. Sage Rishyashringa ( his name is recorded in the Ramaayana of Valmiki )was leaving in this hill top ( giri = hill in Sanskrit ). So it got its name as Sringa-giri...in Kannada "yeri" means a hillock or a raised place...so in Kannada it is Sringa + yeri = Sringeri, the present form.
