Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham

Yes , it is the same one. There is Vidyashankar

temple beside Sharada temple is shown in the home page

photo. It is on the Tunga River at Karnataka state.

It is not a shaaktha aashrama..it is the seat of advaitic truth.

 

Sringeri has got it's name as follows. Sage Rishyashringa ( his name is recorded

in the Ramaayana of Valmiki )was leaving in this hill top ( giri = hill in

Sanskrit ). So it got its name as Sringa-giri...in Kannada "yeri" means a

hillock or a raised place...so in Kannada it is Sringa + yeri = Sringeri, the

present form.

Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham has been refered many times in the forum

i think , but i don't know exactly what it is . I found a site and i

don't know if it is the same one . It is a shakta ashram or also has

another meaning ? ,. Is the ashram described in this site the same ?
