Dear devotee ,

There is a common misunderstanding among the devotees that a Kali's photo or a

dancing Nataraja or Hanuman with fire on the tail and similar photos cannot be

kept in the house because Kali is wrathful , Hanuman with fire on the tail would

bring ill luck and reasons like this are given for not keeping it.

>From that angle if you remove the qualification wrathful , one would not think

it as it would bring bad luck and keep the photo. I had given the reason why any

Devi photo ( Big) for that matter cannot be kept in the house as reasoned by

paramahamsa.

Kali is addressed as Bhayankari from the point of a wicked , thamasic mind and

for the same nama , She means is very beautiful to a sathwic mind.

Since the question was relating to whether Kali photo can be kept or not as it

is looking wrathful -- i thought you had reasoned it for not keeping it in the

house from wrathful point of view.

Any form of Ma is beautiful for the devotee but that doesn't mean it

is not a wrathful form. Ma Kali is depicted in different ways and as

long as i know it is not contradictive to refer to her in this way.

Why should it be, some of Her names also, like Bhayankari have

similar meaning but that doesn't mean her devotees should be afraid

of Her. Also in the gospel of Sri Ramakrishna he specifically talks

about wrathful forms, at least in the translation i have. Until now i

have never heard it is not right for a bhakta to refer to one of her

forms as wrathful. Could you tell me more about it , or tell me in

what way you mean it ?
