Note : A small correction. It is pankajabhava hari.. and not pankaja

bhavahari.

Pankajabhava : One who is born in the lotus (Brahma)

Hari : Vishnu,

Surapati : Lord of Suras (devas) i.e Indra,

pUjita pAda kamala : worshipped (whose lotus feet are worshipped) by

shrI kusuma kuntalAmbikE : shrI kusuma kuntalAmbikE

 

Bhaavaartha :

 

Shri kusuma kuntalAmbikE, worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu and Indra

(Vishnubrahmasurendra sevita(pujita)padaam – ref Minakshi Pancarthna

Mudgapuramunandu : In mudgapura

sthiramuga nelakoni : having stayed firmly

mudamutO : happily (wholeheartedly)

janulaku : to the people

varamuliccEvu : bestow boons

sadgatula nosagE : one who gives sadgati (mukti)

shAmbhavi nIvu : You are shaambhavi

sarasIruha lOcani : having eyes resembling lotus petals

shankari : one who does good

nI caraNAmbujamE : your lotus feet alone

namminavADu gadamma : believer I am,

 

Bhaavaartha :

 

You are shaambhavi, staying firmly in mudgapura (some place, current

name may be different) wholeheartedly

bestow boons and gives mukti to the people. Oh lotus eyed one, I am a

firm believer of your lotus feet alone.

 

Note : The second sentence is more or less literally translated. It

means “ I have taken refuge at Your feet alone”.

nA duritamu dIrcuTa bhAramA dInuDanu lalitAmbikE I jAgElanE tALajAla

tALajAla namma : I cannot bear

vinumu : please listen

prEmatODu kApADu vArevaru : who is there to protect with love ?

dEvI nIvE gAka : oh Goddess, otherthan you

lOkajanani : Mother of the world

tAmasamu sEyakavE : Please do not procrastinate (delay)

gAvumika talli : please protect now, mother

nAdu tApamella dIrcuTaku : to ward off all my tApa(traya)s.

 

Bhaavartha :

Is it a burden (for You) to ward off my troubles ? Oh Mother Lalitha !.

why delay, I cannot bear (anymore). Please

Listen, but for You, who is there to protect me with love ? Mother of

the World, please do not procrastinate, kindly

Protect me now. To ward off all my troubles.. (this combines with

starting word in pallavi , inkevarunnaaru - who else is there ? )
