SRI MAHISHASURA MARDINI STOTRAM - VERSE 9

 

jaya jaya japya jaye jaya shabda parastuti tatpara vishvanute

bhaNa bhaNa bhin~jimi bhi.nkR^ita nUpura shin~jita mohita bhUtapate

naTita naTArdha naTI naTa nAyaka nATita nATya sugAnarate

jaya jaya he mahiSAsura mardhini ramya kapardhini shailasute

 

SPIRITUAL COMMENTARY

 

Mother, You are the sweetness in every melody and the gracefulness of all dance

postures. You are the power in all sacred music to uplift the soul and

completely drive all depression away. Those who sing to You and wish You

victory in songs containing the auspicious word "jaya" are granted the supreme

spiritual victory by You.

 

In Your beautiful abode on Mount Kailas, when the auspicious time of dusk sets

in, You become eager to perform the holy tandava dance with Your beloved

husband, Siva Nataraj, the King of Dance. You walk as gracefully and smoothly

as a swan gliding through a lake, and as You approach Your husband, the

delicate sounds "bhana bhim, jhana jhim" produced by Your anklets draw Him out

of His blissful meditation on Your divine form. He whose meditation can never

be disturbed by any earthly sound or temptation is not able to resist the

gentle jingling of Your anklets. As You begin Your dance of dissolution and

liberation for the benefit of all the worlds, Your bodies are shining intensely

with golden light, giving radiance to the moons in Your crowns.

 

When You and Lord Siva perform this glorious dance of universal liberation in

the minds of Your devotees, every stamp of Your lotus feet drenches those

fortunate ones with blissful nectar. You are the sublime music of Omkara

resounding throughout Your Creation, and You are the supreme Energy dancing in

all forms moving in all the worlds.

That was a wonderful commentary for all the 9 verses. Is it possible that I find the commentary for the rest of the verses since I want to know the meaning of the rest of the verses and chant them too.
