Guest guest
Sri Rama Jayam Dear Lokesh, All the panchabhoota kshetras have the shivalingams in forms associated with the five elements. Water or Aap kshetram at Tiruvanaikka - The sanctum sanctorum has always some water, sometimes even ankle deep with water seeping from right under the Lord. Earth or Pritvi kshetram at Kanchipuram - The Lingam is made of earth, which was installed by Sri Kamakshi Ambal herself. Hence, abhishekam is performed only to the Avudayar or the peetam and not to the lingam. Air or Vayu Kshetram at Sri Kalahasti - There is a small lamp hanging right next to the Lord, the flame of which keeps flickering constantly, which the other lamps which are also adjacent do not display this flickering. Fire or Tejo Kshetram at Tiruvannamalai - The great mountain at the foothills of which the temple is located is itself the jyothi swaroopam of the Lord, signifying which the huge beacon is lit on every Karthikai Deepam. I have read in a book about the kshetram that inside the sanctum of Arunachaleshwaraswamy, you can feel the heat emanating from the Lord. Ether or Akasha Kshetram at Chidambaram - The name itself signifies the importance of the place. Chit + Ambaram = The vast expanse of absolute consciousness. Also, the Chidambara Rahasyam stands symbolic for the ether consciousness. There are also some people who consider Tiruvarur as also the Pritvi Kshetram as the Valmika lingam is also made of earth here.
