In the generic context, those words should be translated as Lust and Greed.

The words kaaminii and kaanchana were used by shrii raamakrishnaa due the

fact that most of the audience he had was men and he never meant that in a

derogatary way. On the contrary, he taught and lived by the precept that all

women should be treated as divine. With reverence and hence not with lust.

Shrii Aurobindo in one of his books clearly points out the source of the

problem and troubles with sexuality. He says that we have with simultaneous

feeling of attraction and revulsion. This often leads to hypocrisy (krishna

calls it mithyaachaara in giita) of seeking it in mind and condemning it in

words. There is the conflict. If we leave what belongs to tri-guNa-s just

to it, we will not be troubled by it.

Typically, [male] devotees of divine mother do not condemn per se women as a

source of their problems with sexuality. They try to see all women as

divine. It is also better to take a practical view on this matter. The

daxinaachara school is in line with shankara's teachings and their views on

these matters is also similar to that. Vaamachara school, considers it as a

act of divine and make a worship out of it. Both schools condemn lust.

Also lust springs from kAma. It extends to other realms. One can say it is

the root of all problems.
