Title: Sri Lalita Sahasranaamam -- With Tamil Commentary

By : S. Ganapathy Subrahmanian and M. Sundararaman

Published by: Jnana Bhaskara Sangam, 14 Muthal Kurukku theru,

Seethamma Extension, Teynampet, Chennai - 600018.

Pages: 179 + 945 + 17

------------

Last weekend a I found this very nice book in Houston Meenakshi

Temple Library. This is a very rigorous, well formatted, beautiful

presentation of saubhagya bhaaskara with additional notes. In India,

this book is sold for Rs. 450.

Some features of the books are:

* Translation is excellent.

* Presentation is very beautiful, with tables etc. It is a sheer

delight to read this book. I was delighted to see some of the tables,

which I had in my wish list is in the book (for instance, the table

for names starting from vishuddhi chakra nilaya explaining all chakra-

s etc.)

* Translation of puurva and uttara piThika is included

* It is faithful translation of saubhagya bhaskara and with

additional notes.

* Tamil characters are presented with subscripts 2,3,4 to get the

pronunciation correct.

* Includes biography of shrii bhaaskararaaya

* Includes a nice and brief biography of shrii chidanandanatha (Sir,

original name neDiminTi subrahmaNya ayyar) and include a color

picture of him. It also includes other color pictures.

In short, it is a GREAT book to have and sheer delight to read it. If

you are in Houston area, the temple has one more copy on the shelf

and it is $20 in the US (to cover their s&h expenses). You may be

able to get it at other places also.

Can someone in Chennai, find the telephone number of the sangam and

list of other books they have published. My humble namaskarams to the

sangam and all the bhaktha-s who undertook this noble effort.

translation in tamil. It is translated as a poem ie in 'Kavithai' style.

It is only a small book and good for simple understanding. It is published by
