Last weekend a I found this very nice book in Houston

Meenakshi

Temple Library. This is a very rigorous, well

formatted, beautiful

presentation of saubhagya bhaaskara with additional

notes. In India,

this book is sold for Rs. 450.

Some features of the books are:

* Translation is excellent.

* Presentation is very beautiful, with tables etc. It

is a sheer

delight to read this book. I was delighted to see some

of the tables,

which I had in my wish list is in the book (for

instance, the table

for names starting from vishuddhi chakra nilaya

explaining all chakra-

s etc.)

* Translation of puurva and uttara piThika is included

* It is faithful translation of saubhagya bhaskara and

with

additional notes.

* Tamil characters are presented with subscripts 2,3,4

to get the

pronunciation correct.

In short, it is a GREAT book to have and sheer delight

to read it. If

you are in Houston area, the temple has one more copy

on the shelf

Today I had been to the Sangam to find out the phone no. and other books

published by them (Tamil /English). The concerned person

(Mrs. S. Rajammal) was not there. I was asked to contact her on 4th Jan.

Will try to meet her on Sunday or on Monday and get the phone no. and other

information and post accordingly.

If any of our learned members outside Chennai or India would like to buy this

book, I will arrange to send the same by courier. The payment can be made thru

a/c transfer to my ICICI or HSBC account. Will workout and post the cost of the

book(s){LS - INR 450/- (thinking of requesting for a rebate ) and other books -

Yet to find } and the courier chgs. (pref. by DHL {Yet to find} if any other

courier services - pl. advise ) soon.

Giri Press has published a nice book on Soundarya Lahari (Tamil).

Will keep in touch with them soon and post the information accordingly.

Mrs. Rajammal told me to meet her on Tuesday. She agreed to give a rebate. They

have only 10 copies with them now, and planning to re print. Also they are

planning to print LS in English after some time.

As such they havent published any other books. They are planning to print

Soundarya Lahiri, Devi Mahatmyam after some time. Will post the details on

Wednesday.

This book has been compiled by GS mama( Shree Ganapathy Subramanian ) and Shree

Sundarraman based on the lectures of DR. Goda Venkateswara Sastrigal MSC, CAIIB

, Sahitya Mimamasa Nyaya Vedanta Shiromani Vidya Varidhi Advaitha Siddhi

Rathnakara and an authority on Sri Vidya scriptures,Vedas and Vedanta.

These lectures by Dr. Goda Sastrigal were held on every Sunday from 1982

extending to 5 yrs at the residence of Pujaya Smt. Rajam Mami. Rajam Mami is

very well known in Sri Vidya circles of Chennai -- Her knowledge on Sri Vidya

earnt Her the Title " LOPA MUDRA " from HH Sringeri Jagad Guru Abhinava Thirtha

Swamigal. Pujya Rajam Mami is one among the very few allowed to do the Sri Vidya

Navavana Puja to Kaamakshi Ambaal and Sri Chakra at Kaanchi temple.

Dr. Goda Sastrigal continued lecturing on Tri Shati Bhasyam after LS Bhasyam and

currently lectures on " Parusurama Kalpa Sutra " is in progress ( every sunday

between 3.30 to 4.30. at Rajam Mamis house.)

This book on LS is an encyclopaedia by itself , as the lectures includes a wide

coverage -- from the following Bhasyas of LS apart from vedas and vedantas.

Sri Sowbhagya Bhaskaram By HH Bhaskararaya

Jaya Mangala -- By Bhatta Narayanar

Parimalam -- By Simputla Ramamurthy Sastrigal

The ocean of Tranquility -- by C.K. Jaisimha Rao

Many Mantra and Tantra Sastras

Veda -- Vedanta Bhashyas

The Bhasya includes the Uttara Bhaga of LS also which contains the Phala Sruthi.

The need to possess Sri Vidya Mantra for reciting LS has been overemphasised in

many places which may be kindly taken note of.

The books that have been listed in this email are they available in telugu or

english could any one please let me know. I have an english book on LS by LM

JOSHI. I bought it from Motilal Bansaridas Books in New Delhi. I have heard a

great deal about the good book stores in Chennai but I dont have their address

or website addressess. If any one could provide that it would be really great.
