In my humble opinion the sound emanated from the

living soul is only nearer to that letters

vibration.for example valmiki's accent of mara became

Rama .it is therefore advised by Guru to do japa.by

repetition u click a sound nearer to bija manthras,

then in a flash the devatha appears of particular

bijakshara..hence it depends upon the receipient

hearing capacity say perception from his guru is that

sound. as such it can be anything.

If I am wrong some can correct it.

Pranam,

 

Apart from the aforesaid observation which is quite True, if one takes into

account the story in Devi Bhaghawatham of " Sathya Vrathan " which goes as

 

-- Born to Devadatta and rohini - as 'Udathiya' said to be so intellectually

weak that even after tweleve years of Vedic learning couldn't even perform the

Sandya vandana Karma.

 

Fed up with the redicule of dear and near ,Udathiya goes to the banks of ganges

and takes a vow to speak only the TRUTH. unable to do any sadhana spiritually

with his weak mind , soon earns the respect of the people around him due to his

truthfulnees. People recognise him as " Satyatapasvi or sathyavratha."

 

Always following the eight atmic qualities while being foolish whiles away his

time for 14 years when Devi's Grace descends in a dramatic way.

 

Once a wounded boar happens to take refuge inside a bush of Sathyavratha's

ashram and seeing the bleeding boar the atmic quality of Daya -- love overwhelms

him but before he could help this poor animal out, the hunter arrives at the

scene, questions him whether he saw the wounded boar passing through his ashram.

The Muni being struck between the boar and hunter, beteween the two atmic

qualities aswell -- The Truth (if he revealed would kill the boar ) and Daya the

universal love for all creatures -- cried

 

" I,I,I,I And I "

 

( one would say IYO in tamil just an impulsive sound when in danger )

 

As he accidentally repeated the Beeja Mantra " IEM" though not in its entirety

as " I " -- Devi promptly removes the ignorance from Sathyvratha and the

enlightened Sathyavratha replies to the hunter as

 

" The - She Who witnesses doesn't speak and She who sees doesn't speak " ( in

Tamil there is an equivalent saying Kandavar vindathillai -- Vindavar

kanddathillai )

 

This episode of Devi Bhagwath amply confirms that the supreme Grace of Devi acts

in conditions of light and Truth, even if the Beej Mantra is accidentally

repeated even in fraction.

 

To recall the words os Sri aurobindo " If you open yourself on one side or in

one part to the truth of "Manthra Sadhana " and on the other side are

constantly opening the gates to the hostile forces within oneself, it is vain to

expect that the divine grace will abide with you -- how so ever your intensity

of Sadhana Be.

 

Therefore by the rhythmical vibrations of the sounds of a bija mantra together

with the sadhana sakthi only half battle towards the eternal freedom the other

part is winning over foes of atmic qualities which is a resultant of Vasanas.
