Thanks in advance and good wishes RK Rangan "Srinath Ram" <srinath_atreya> Wed Jan 21, 2004 9:38 pm Re: Meaning & Usage of Hloum beeja || Jai Sadguru Dutta || "h" represents AkASha- brahman - sat Sri Adi Shankara explains this in his LalithA triShati BhAShya: " 'h' kArasya AkASha bIjasya arThA, arTha swaroop chaitanyA, AkASha vigrahEtyarThah " --- Hence " ham AkASha tatwAtmikAyei puShpam samarpayAmi" Here, 'h' + 'l' + 'aum' ---->hlaum or hloum 'l' is prthvee (earth) beeja corresponding to Lord Ganapathy. Hence 'hlaum' is the beeja mantra of mrthyunjaya-ganapathy. The above explanation is in accordance with "Mantra Shastra". The prayog of these type of beejas in mantras is a very secret vidya and should not be used out of curiosity. I am just wondering how you came across this beeja mantra and would like to know more about it. All the best. regards "rkrangan" <rkrangan> Sun Jan 25, 2004 1:17 pm Re: Meaning & Usage of Hloum beeja Om Gurave Namah Dear Srinath ji Many thanks for your guidance. Of course, I understand the importance and seriousness of usage of beejas especially the one such as "Hloum". I did hear this from an astrology pundit long ago and had virtually forgotten about it. I have, in the recent past, been interested in mantras as remedies to illnesses and wanted to learn the meaning and the usage of beejas in the correct manner. This is purely academic. Can you go one step further? Do you know of scriptural references that I can take help from, with regard to beeja mantras, in addition to your guidance? Like for instance you have said 'l' for prithvi beeja for Lord Ganapathy. Is there a kind of ready-reckoner? What about the 'h'- the akasha component? Does that not form part of the final assignment? The pundit who mentioned this, briefly hinted that this for 'practical' purposes, is for Lord Shiva, though he did not elaborate on the form or rupa of Shiva. Another member Sri. Gaurav Shrimali has also posted on this matter. Hloum, to me, is something new, though I have heard and read some mantras composed, with 'haum' beeja especially for Lord Shiva or some roopa of His. I shall be glad if you respond and give me more food for thought. Sincerely R.
