Hindus will also be observing fast on this day. Please join me in offering Prayers to Lord shiva and his consort Parvati devi, the divine cosmic couple. here is a hymn dedicated to shiva from Thiruvachakam (a shaivite text) TIRU VAAC(H)AKAM(TAMIL) "padaippaai kaappaai tudaippaai potri idaraik kalaiyum entaai potri isa potri! iraiva potri! desap paLingin tiraLe potri arase potri amude potri virai ser saraNa vikirtaa potri vedi potri vimalaa potri aadi potri arive potri kadiye potri kaniye potri nadi ser chenchudai nambaa potri udaiyaai potri uNarve potri kadaiyen adimai kaNdaai potri" (in Tamil) meaning, "O, the Creator ! the Protector !the Destroyer ! Salutations ! The Remover of all Sorrows, Salutations ! The Possessor of all Wealth, Salutations ! The Omnipresent God ! Salutations ! The most effulgent Crystal Beam ! Salutations ! O King ! Salutations ! The Deity with many-splendored feet ! Salutations ! Thou Who resideth in the Lotus of my heart ! Salutations ! The Unblemished One ! Salutations ! The Original Source of creations !
