She who is at Tiruchirappali is " Maha Vaarahi "-- also known as "Dhandini". As the name implies She has the Face of a boar. At Madurai Lalitha Parabhattarika is as "Manthrini " . Dhandini is the sena nayaki or the Chief Of army and Manthrini is the chief of ministers of lalitha Mahatripurasundari. The Anga Devathas of Mahatripura Sundari are Manthrini, Vaarahi and Bala. These Devathas in turn have Prathyanga devathas. Speaking on Vaarahi -- Her Anga Devatha is ' Laghu Varthaaliamba" and upanga devathas are " Swapna Vaarahi" and "Thiraskarinamba". Pujya Sri Anna says -- Lalitha Devi's " Ahamkara" swarupa is Maha Vaarahi and Her " Bhuddhi " swarupa is Mathangi or Manthrini. Focussing our discussion on the Maha Vaarahi -- The Akhilanda koti Brahmanda koti Nayaki or the Akhilaneshwari : The Bhavanopanishad says : She is adhi devatha of dhathus, is the father of this body and Kurukulla the bali devatha, the Adi devatha of Mamsa ( Meat of our body ) is the mother. It is some what peculiar to note that describing her in the form of Father in the upanishad, for which Bhaskaracharya explains : Though Vaarahi is undoubtedly feminine in nature, as She has the Masculine face she is considered as Father. In Devi Bhagawath, Agni purana And Padma purana there are accounts of Mahavishnu taking form as Varaha or the Boar to lift the earth to its original place when it slid into water. It was possible for Mahavishnu only with the help of feminine shakthi Vaarahi . Manu the son of Brahma prayed to Bhuvneshwari for this to be done when Vaarahi appeared. Also in the Eighth Chapter of the great Purana Devi Mahaatmeym Vaarahi who is one of the seven emanations of Kausik Durga, faught the Demon the Raktha Bhija. This implies that Vaarahi is all consuming power of assimilation. Mother Vaarahi is the power of tenacity to accomplish whatever has been willed.. The cosmic power of Her manifestation is that she provides the universe with Food and also " the Universe is Her Food ".--- She is the All consuming power in the Cosmos. In Vedas She is denoted as the Supreme Day ( Vara -- Ha ). So it conveys the meaning " Devourer of darkness " or Ignorance. It is believed by sadhaks who have the singular aim of Mooksha in this birth, take to extreme Vaarahi Upasana. She would easily lead the Sadhak to the True Knowledge and She only grants Moksha and not Bhoga. At Akhilandeswari temple to reduce the Ugraha of Devi , Adi Shankara had installed the Sri chakra in Her thatanka and She Faces her son the Majestic Maha Ganapathy who must be atleast eight feet in height. I wish every sadhak should have the darshan of Vaarahi at Trichy and manthrini at Madurai. At Trichy they would get an additional bonus of wasinhg their sins at the Punya nadhi Kaveri.
