I think have the same book (on sandhya vandanam). And I am confused about the translation of shhashhTi shata as six hundred. shhaT which is "six" when used for counting becomes (as sixth) shhashhTaH (M) shhashhTii (F) and shhashhTamam (N) -- for example shhashhtii tithi is sixth tithi, or shhashhTama shatakam (sixth hundred) and so on. Here in the verse, it is just being stated like a number. And shhashhTiH is sixty. Hence, my question is: shhashhTi shata sahasra is 6*100*1000 (6 lakhs) or 60*100*1000 (60 lakhs)? Somadeva sharma translates it as 6 lakhs and Swami VijnAnanda translates it as sixty thousand. I am clear that the latter is incorrect. I would like to know the correct way to translate it (and with explanation). And thanks in advance.
