Durga the Great Mother literally means the " one difficult to Access".

therefore devotees approaching her follow the difficult means of realisation --

transformation of individual attachment into the universal Oneness --

after which she confers Victory on them.

As per shree Kamal the famous Tantric author of Kashmir She has " 64 diverse

forms". As per the author Parvathi is a form of durga and her gentle aspects

assume form of Kanyakumari and Kaamakshi.

She is called Bhagawathi in Kerala and worshipped as RAJNYA in Kashmir and in

Tamilnadu Kannagi is a form of Durga.

In the mahabharata when the Pandavas entered the capital of Virata for their

life incognito, they worshipped durga mathaji and were granted certain boon.

Also at the instance of krishna , Arjuna prayed to Durga for victory in the war

and she promptly appeared on the sky to grant the boons.

She is worshipped from Vedic times and uptodate and how can one forget to think

of Paramahamsa Sri Ramakrishna a great devotee of durga when one writes or

thinks of durgaji.

She is Maheswari from the Expression " Durgasi durgabhavasagaranauh asanga ".

" Durge durge Rakshini Swaha " goes the jaya durga Manthra

Durgas - which means there could be more Ichha/Jnana Shakti forms.

I would appreciate if any one can shed more light on the above,

specific mantras for each form and special remarks about worshipping

specific Durga form - including any astrological reasons.

Thanks in advance,
