Guest guest
This brings verses 64 and 65 from shivAnandalaharI to my mind. Verse 64 highlight with a sense of humour what kind of rough surfaces Lord's feet has to deal with and requests Him to wear the devotee's love filled mind a sandals to protect his delicate feet. In that one of the things that due to friction bothers lord's feet is gem studded crowns of prostrating deva-s (namassura shiraH koTiira sangharshhaNam). They rub on his soft feet and trouble him (at least the devotee thinks so). In verse 65, the benefits of worshipping Lord's feet is described. It brings out a beautiful imagery. deva-s (nirjaraH, that one who does not age and become old) gem studded crowns (koTiira ujjvala ratna) looks like a niraajanam performed like a thousands of light buds (deepa kalikaa) to the Lord, as they prostrate and get up. Since, the devotee worshipping Lord's feet is one with it, it looks like the niiraajanam is done to the devotee himself. Such is the benefit of worshipping Lord' feet. Another thing to notice here is, the gems do not shine by themselves. They merely reflect the light (multiple internal reflections) and here the light they reflect is the light of Lord's feet. Like the verses, quoted below, many many verses in shivAndalaharI addresses the lord with reference to ambaa (gauriipate, bhavaaniipate, etc.) ShivanandalaharI is one of the amazing devotional work that brings out different aspects of bhakti. Probably due to Her being surrounded by all other devatas like Brahma and Vishnu who come to worship Her. For LS-44-nakhadIdhitisa~nchhannanamajjanatamoguNA, Bhaskara-raya explains with quotes from Matsya and Kurma Puranas. Narada says to Himavan:" O best of mountains, Her feet are like lotuses, shining with bright nails. additions are welcome. -- Devi’s Padam surpasses the beauty of Lotus as per LS 45 Namavali .how does her padam greatly excel the lotus in degree, amount, quality etc. The National Flower of the Punya Bhumi , the Lotus, is very special even to an ordinary mortal in terms of its unique beauty, reflection of color, softness, wonderful arrangement of its petals and above all its ability while its stays in water -- the flower is least affected by water ( as water doesn’t stick to it ) or its surroundings. Our Masters say that every human being should try to be like lotus, while being in the world he should be detached from it. The weakness of lotus flower is while it blossoms in the morning when the sun is On, it doesn’t remain in the same state after the sunset. Devi’s padam surpasses the beauty of lotus in this respect as its beauty remains eternally like an eternal Lotus. / Ganapathy --- Vijaya " Jai Bhavani " Friends. Fun.
