Guest guest
When I saw this the first thing that came to my mind was tripurasundari ashhTakam. It is available with translation on ambaa.org. First verse says "sura nitambinI sevitAm" and the last one mentions "suravadhUTIkA cheTikAm". This term sevitaa or something synonymous occurs in many names and works. In truth, She is only an univolved witness. In the ultimate sense, as She alone is the only true witness and the rest is charade of mAyA. Hence, all actions become a service to Her, as none but She witnesses them as karmAdisAxiNI. On a practical level, the service is a relationship of love. It is not out of a need service is given to Her, but as an expression of love. For she is labdhakAma and there is nothing that She needs that She does not have. Yet, She pretends the need of this service and enjoys it. For instance, when small child offers comb its mother hair or decorate her face; its mother cheerfully allows it and enjoys the love behind those actions. Even though the child will only make a mess and leave it in a state worse than started, it is play of love -- that gives so much joy. I think that should be case with shriimAtA. She accepts this service and gives these opportunities to express our love. Sometimes, I wonder who serves whom! But for SrimAtA supporting this Universe, maintaining it, and nourishing us and protecting us through all this chain of birth and death; how can anything even survive. As She promises, at every calamity I will come and guard you and I will grow food out of me as shAkambarI and feed you, etc. It is we (staring from brahma down to the blade of grass) need Her service and support all the time. And She needs none.
