In the last mail the two forms viz -- Mother Kathyayani and Maha Maya was

discussed. The Maya in a nut shell is the power to make things appear as “ What

is Not as IS and What is IS as Not “. Maha Swamy says Maha Maya is worshipped in

all villages of Tamil Nadu and known in the local dialect as “ mahamayee “ and “

kathyee” for Kathyayini.

1) This name is open for other interpretations also. If you refer to the

names kaashhThaa and kalaatmikaa in LS, you will get more ideas. For

instance, one of the meanings of kaashhThaa is that She who is inferred from

vedanta and its conclusions. And kalaa also has many meanings, including one

that assumes forms to enable meditation of devotees. Hence kalaa denotes

saguNa brahman and kaashhTaa is nirguNa brahman. Together this name implies

they are one and the same; and SHE is both. Other meanings of this name is

also possible.

 

 

2) Time definitions and interpretations vary from text to text. For

instance, mahAnAryaNopanishhad gives one set (verse 8 and 9) and it occurs

in various other text also.

 

sarve nimeshhaa jaj~nire vidyutaH purushhaadadhi .

kalaa muhuurtaaH kaashhThaashchaahoraatraashcha sarvashaH .. 8..

ardhamaasaa maasaa R^itavaH sa.nvatsarashcha kalpantaam.h .

sa aapaH pradudhe ubhe ime antarikshamatho suvaH .. 9..

 

One way to look at this name is (based on above), time (like space) is not

an independent entity and it emanates for the Supreme being, hence dependent

on HER. SHE is time and SHE is beyond time too and transcends it. In HER

nirguNa state, notions of space and time do not exist.
