Dear Virendra ji

Being a Kashmiri Pandit you must be able to throw more light on the following

questions and if you are not sure could you pl check in your circles.

Is it In the Indian Territory or POK territory.

If it is located on the LOC do you need a Visa and who issues it

If it is in POK do they grant visa to Indians.

What is the Routine Rituals and Pujas in this Peet and who is managing.

Whether the Relics and manuscripts are still preserved or safe there

Is there a security threat to an Indian who wish to Visit this peet.

Thanks and Regards

It is in Indian territory - Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Just a few k.m. away from

Line of Control.

Sharada is the aspect of Divine mother represeting original knowledge

transcending all limitations and is an epithet of Maha Saraswathi -- the goddess

of learning.

The first " Sharada Peetam " existed in Kashmir even

The place where this peetam is located is called " Sarada " even today but

unfortunately in now in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir . The relics at the shrine

have been popular and universally respected.

Dear Shri Ganapathy Sir :

Om Sri Gurubhyo Namaha ! Sri Lalitha Tripurasundaryai Namaha !

This may be an interesting link to visit on this subject.

http://ikashmir.org/Temples/GoddessSharda.html

It will definitely answer your first question.

This seems like an authentic account by a Kashmiri - also an Indian army

brigadier. There is also a map of the pilgrimage route to Shardi(apparently

- the current name not Sarada) of the village.

>From my limited contacts in the Indian army and Ministry of External

Affairs, it is an extremely difficult place to get permission to visit.

I hope the current peace initiatives and cricket diplomacy make it easier

for Shaaktas to visit Peethams on the other side.
