Guest guest
Dear Devotee Pranams. You are right a Sankalpa is Not necessary for a Realised Person who has got over Maya as he is already in Amba cosciousness without any break and no need for puja or meditation ( a forced process ) etc . But for a spiritual aspirant or a Mumukshu -- he is still overwhelmed by Maya to different degrees as per his progress and He has not got over the limitation of Time and Space. Therefore our scriptures prescribe certain " Preliminary Preparation " before Sadhana or a puja and let us look into it. 1. Snana or the external cleaniness and prification. Snanas are of different types and that is not required to be discussed. 2. Achamanam : Both Vaidic and Tantric which denotes the purification of the three principles Viz, Atma, Vidya , Shiva. The three mantras denote EXISTENCE, CONSCIOUSNESS OR KNOWLEDGE and BLISS. The fourth Mantra recited stands for the transcendence of the three principles and called TURYA. 3. Asana means a sitting posture which is convenient and helps body to acquire a poise. Usually a Padmasana with back and spine errect is beneficial for the kunadalini shakthi to raise while doing Upasana. Siddhasana is equally beneficial. Gita also speaks about the nature of asana like Kusa or Dharba, silk cloth etc 4. Pranyama the regulation of breath with Vedic mantras and Tantric Mantras is done which regulates the activities of the Mind and by constant practice mind falls silent and ready to receive the grace of Ambaa Om 5. The Sankalpa is the Aspirant's Firm Solemn Resolve on the purpose of seeking the Divine Grace -- May be Kamya ( Worldly Desires ) or Nishkamya ( purification of mind knowing fully Well Ambaji knows and would give , what is good for you and No Speical Appeal is necessary ) It starts with the yuga , manwanthara, year's name Uttarayana or Dakshinayana , solar Month, lunar day , nakshatra etc which is not discussed. The objective clearly indicates that the Sadhak still continues and subject to duality by maya and that is why the time etc is required. It is common among Hindu devotees to walk off during the mid of a puja stating some excuses. If one does a sankalpa the devotee is also afraid also to stop in in the middle of puja fearing some consequences or an auto suggestion to complete the puja. For a Realised Soul even taking a BATH is optional. This reminds me of one Sri Sri Rama Shiva Swamy used to sit on the precincts and premises of Ekambareshwar Temple at KaAnchipuram. He never used to take bath -- dirt personified wearing a jute bag as rug and his food was solely Tobacco. with all these attributes a normal Mortal would emant Stink for few miles with probably humans running by the very sight of such persons but there was no smell from this Realise Soul. He used to take bath in the pond of Kaamakshi temple once in 6 months when a huge crowd would observe him and NOT a drop of water would stick on him, when he is taking bath and he would come out DRY. This person has been Certified by MAHA SWAMY as JIVAN MUKTHA. Those in this group from Kaanchi or chennai would have heard about him. He attained Kaivalyam during eighties. Therefore none of the preliminaries required for the Upasana or puja is required for a Realised Soul Ganapathy mail email <amman_tamil wrote: My apologies in advance if my question has been raised before in this group. It just came to me today. I can be slow. In the sankalpa, to my knowledge, the concepts of time and space are used. Of course these are aspects of Holy Mother's Maya. I believe sankalpa to be a very careful and precise marking of moment and position. Because they are a part of Maya, what is the reason they are used at all in puja?... in a way their being no time or space which are also human constructs.
