English:

O Devi, you are what you are and there is none to describe you as "you are

such and such". On the other hand, I am such an ignorant person who does not

even know about himself. Considering this state of mine, I feel shy (or I am

ashamed) to offer this hymn to you as work of mine.

(the usage yAdRk, tAdRk, IdRk is difficult to convey in English)

Compare:

1) abhirAmi antAdi verse 66 - vinaiyEn thoDuththa chol avamaayinum, nin

thiru naamangaL thOththiramE (see

http://www.ambaa.org/prayers/abhirami.htm).

2) See the trishati names

etat-tad-ity-anirdeshyA,

evam-ity-Agama-abodhyA,

IdR^ig-ity-avinirdeshyA,

etc. You can see the meanings at

http://www.ambaa.org/download/LT_InProgress.html.

3) Look at the signature of (a verse from saundaryalaharI)
