Idol Worship and Idle Worship

I have few good friends of other Faiths who also have some basic knowledge of

our belief Systems.

 

 

 

The other day one of them while discussing on our Faiths, commented that in our

Dharma we pray Idols, Statues, Pictures, drawings and other Man made things. He

also talked on the powers of mind of Human beings and was talking about Rockets,

Computers etc, which perform wonders and just for this reason Can we really

worship them? Therefore he observed in very strong manner that this human made

objects are not worthy of worship and so he was against Idol worship and went on

to explain the greatness of his faith.

 

 

 

I was silently watching him and did not react. I knew his affluence, which was a

result of his grand father’s wise investments, and he used to adore him for his

ingenuity before some years. His grand father had expired even before his birth

and used to carry a photograph of his grand father along with his parents which

he had shown me a couple of Times.

 

 

 

After his talk I told him to remove the photo of his grand father from the

purse, which he did promptly and was surprised on this diversion of the topic. I

told him - Wait a minute it is the continuation of this.

 

 

 

Since he was closed to me I told him that I am seriously thinking of spitting at

this photo since it is only a piece of worthless paper. Shocked by my remarks --

he Challenged me seriously-- Do You Dare to do this.

 

 

 

Thereafter I cooled him down and explained -- you gave a lengthy lecture

aganist Idol and picture worship but regretted that in his heart he did not

seem to follow this practice or understand. If his grand father was so Dear to

him why should he worship or respect a piece of discolored paper and over and

above get Upset. Immediately there was flash of light and understanding.

 

 

 

I explained him further that the Idols or pictures we make is not out of our

imagination or fancies but Forms of God as Perceived by our ancient Rishies, out

of contemplation of Sounds from Space.

 

 

 

When this sound known as Beej Mantras are repeated continuously these Sounds of

Supreme Continue to take forms even Today as it happened thousands of years and

guide an individual. Such forms are either drawn or made from stones or other

metals, alloys and when energized guide the aspirant for further spiritual

progress.

 

 

 

He appreciated this and Realized how scientific or Practical and easy is IDOL

WORSHIP for Actual gains and NOT for IDLE GAINS ( like that of his grand

father’s wealth )
