Mantra is that by repeating which, protects. The main goal of mantra japa seems to be immersing the mind in the thought(s) of the devata and hence gradually achieve one-pointedness of the mind as described in Patanjali Yoga sutra-s. Yantra, I read somewhere, is that, by worshipping which, does niyantraNa(controlling) of arishaDvarga-s(group of six enemies) like kAma(lust),krodha(anger) and lobha(greed) etc. Neti neti is the Vedantic process of knowing Brahman which is resorted to, after one has cleansed his citta(mind and its equavalents) by worshipping yantra-s, murti-s using mantra-s etc. Corrections welcome. namaste
Guest guest
Namsate, Firstly let me clarify that I am not a initiated shAkta. brahman is broadly classified into seer and seen. In the most basic and in fact, also very general form, these are the puruSha and prakRti - for an advanced form of sAdhana these become shiva (citta) and shakti (flow of chaitanya). prakRti is obvious, can be known. That which is not prakRti (neti) is purusHa. So neti neti is a method to understand puruSha (shiva) from prakRti (shakti).
