Guest guest
Sri Rama Jayam Namaskarams to all. Recently I had the mahabhagyam of witnessing the Srimad Chandramoulishwara pooja being performed by His Holiness Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal. I remember His Holiness doing bilva archana while the disciples were reciting RT. The same was repeated during all the trikala pooja. But I remember clearly that the remaining stanzas of Sri Rudram or Chamakam were not recited. The archana concluded with the RT. By the way, somebody there told me that the archana that's performed to Mahatripurasundari cannot be seen by us. Can anybody please shed some light regarding this practice? Guest guest
As per Information obtained from a devotee of Sri Mutt very close to Maha Swamies. The procedure followed is Nimalya Dharshanam, then they put the screen, thereafter screen is open for Abhishekam to Lord with Rudram followed by archana with RT etc, then they close the screen for Abhishekam to AmbaOm ( For Maha Meru ) , this is can't be witnessed by devotees but just after Chandana Abhishekam to Amba screen opens for a minute, a small post bath Arti is shown and then screen is closed again for Alankaram and archana to ambaa afterwhich the screen opens for Maha Arti. ( The devotee speculates that the Archana to ambaa is LT and nobody is sure on this.) If any Devi Upasaka approach HH Jayendra Swamygal or Bala Swamygal and discuss about their anushtanams, they bless the devotee and give a " Chandana Meru " ( This is a dried spherical Sandal Paste (LUMP) which was kept earlier on Maha Meru by Acharyas during the puja to ambaa and if one looks into it to see the impressions formed, you can clearly notice the Bidu and trikona on it. This Chandana Meru is believed to increase the Sadhana of the Upasaka and by Her grace I have a Chandana meru given with blessings by HH. regards Ganapathy sudarshan balasubramanian <sudarshanbalasubramanian wrote: By the way, somebody there told me that the archana that's performed to Mahatripurasundari cannot be seen by us. Guest guest
Dear Sri Ganapathy, The procedure described by Sri Ganapathy of the Srimad Chandramoulishwara Pooja is exactly what I have witnessed. The screen was opened several times and closed. Balaperiaval comes for the pooja and does something which I am not very clear about. He keeps writing/designing something on a plate, which I presume is filled with kumkum. This happens for a while and then He performs the Kalasha and Shanka poojas. Then, the Pooja Samputam is opened and the Panchayatana deities are kept on the abhisheka peetam. These include the Spatika Chandramoulishwara Lingam and a Shri Chakram and a Meru Prastharam. I think the material both of these were made of is marakatham, but I'm not very sure. Then starts the ksheera abhishekam to the chants of the Sri Rudram. Balaperiaval holds a small cup filled with milk with a hole in its bottom on top of Srimad Chandramoulishwara swamy and does dhara abhishekam. At the end of Sri Rudram, He performs Sahasra Dhara Abhishekam with milk. Then the screens are drawn. Somebody there told me that during this time other abhishekams like honey, fruits, fruit juices, etc are performed. After about 20 minutes the screen is withdrawn again for the Chandana Abhishekam and a Deepa Harathi. Immediately, the screens are drawn for alankaram and are opened for Srimad Chandramoulishwara archana. After this, again screens are drawn for Amba's archana, as told by Sri Ganapathy. After this follows Dhoopam and Neivedhyam. Finally, the screens are withdrawn for the Mahamangala Harathi. At the end of which, Balaperiaval does a pradakshinam of the Pooja Mantapam. This is something that has to be witnessed and can't be told. This sight just gives so much of anandam. The same procedure except for the abhishekam part continues for the other two kala poojas. The only time that the Srimad Chandramoulishwara Lingam can be seen properly is during the abhishekam. The chandanam described by Sri Ganapathy is held in very high esteem by those who have received it. The Mahameru is covered totally by this chandanam. I remember to have read somewhere that this chandanam was given to a woman who was a Sri Upasaki by Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal. After a while, miraculously some form appeared on the chandanam, which when enquired with Periaval, was Ambal's roopam. Such is the mahima of it and moreover it is very rarely given.
