Guest guest
This information is obtained from a book on Dharma Shastras compiled by Soma Deva Sarma and has a Sri mukam from Maha swamy. The book is very old and the publishers name is not available, as the covers and few pages are missing. Quote : If No News is heard about a person missing for 12 continuous years, the descendents of that person can do the Shraddha ceremony. It is important that that there must be absolutely “ NO News” about him directly or indirectly for 12 years – there could be news about him from sources such as somebody having previously known him reporting to the concerned family that he had spotted the missing individual in such and such a place or spotted the person even resembling him and in such cases 12 years is said to be not in Order. narasimhadasan <narasimhadasan wrote: Dear Members, Namaskaram. If a man is missing then the Law presumes him to be dead on the expiry of a certain period. Do the Shastras make any such presumption? What is the basic requirement for one to become eligible for a Shraddham to be performed for him/her?
