Guest guest
namastE, Disclaimer : This post is outside list scope. If what is currently happening in TamilNadu wrt the arrest of the kAnchi AchAryA-s does not interest you, please do not read any further. However, in my humble opinion, this drama goes *well beyond* the AchAryA-s and the maTham, is contrary to the principles of justice, and could just as easily happen to someone you might know or care about ! A number of devotees are concerned about the way the case of the kAnchi AchAryA-s is being handled by the government and the media. There seems to be clear evidence of misuse of the full force of the TN government's machinery to malign the AchAryA-s and the maTham and unleash a terror campaign against its adherents and supporters. That the manager of the maTham Shri Sundaresa Iyer has been arrested under the goondas act is particularly distressful. The "popular media" is very ably playing the government's handmaiden in this charade. To counter this misinformation campaign, there are some websites that offer a devotee some solace. I am listing some of these below. There are a number of articles on each of these websites that I request people to go through if you have the time. http://www.kanchi-sathya.org/ http://www.kanchiforum.org/ http://sankaracharyaarticles.blogspot.com/ http://www.india- forum.com/IF_Journal/Indian_Politics/Act_to_Prevent_Authoritarian_Ter rorism/25/ http://www.india- forum.com/IF_Journal/Indian_Politics/Time_for_Action/25/ http://www.india- forum.com/IF_Journal/Indian_Politics/A_Simple_Demand_For_Justice/25/ In terms of what one might "do", some of these sites contain petitions that one can sign. http://www.indiacause.com/Cause/C30_Shankaracharya1.htm http://www.petitiononline.com/NHRC2005/ http://www.petitiononline.com/sri/petition.html Please go through these petitons, and only if you feel that what they say is legitimate, then take amoment to endorse them. Doing so is the very least we can do to show our support for our AchAryA-s and the maTham. http://www.kanchiforum.org/ in particular offers suggestions for other ways that one can help in these trying times. http://www.kanchiforum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=206 And to quote from one of the above sites "Above all, remember Acharya before any action you take, especially those on his behalf. To act in a manner contrary to the sanity he has taught us by example would be guru-droham." If you would like to respond to this post, please do so to me personally and not to the list. kAmAkShi priyatAM. , "Ravisankar S.
