LS 112 Namavali – Bhavani

Bhava means Mahadev, Samsaram and Manmatha and Aanayathi – the life giver or the

originating power of their worldly existence. So She is Bhavani.

The Parama Shiva who creates everything is also known as Bhava and his spouse

--therefore She is Bhavani.

One of the eight forms of Shiva, the Jala Murthy of Lord Shiva is also known as

Bhava. Water element is the essence of life on which life exists and that

shakthi or the sustaining power is Bhavani.

Bhava is the origin and supporter of all beings and Ana means the giver of life.

So the source and support of life springs from Bhavani.

Swamy Vivekananda says the sea calm is the absolute. She is time, place and

causation. Mother is the same as Brahman , and has two natures : the

conditioned and the unconditioned. As the former She is god, nature and soul. As

the latter She is Unknown and unknowable the Bhavani the originating power of

Cosmos.

In Prapanchanyasam She is described as Pralaya.

Attention is also drawn to the 22nd verse of Soundarya Lahari -- the moment the

Bhaktha calls Her as Bhavani , she instantly gives him the Sayujya Padavi

without even waiting for him to complete his submission.
