Guest guest
To the moderators, this list is well moderated and the quality of posts are good, those who contribute frequently are succinct and threads are finite. Even controversial themes die down in a couple of days, not allowing posts other than the main theme is restricting. i feel that allowing all posts, will not dilute the emphasis on the main theme. The other points about copyrights and ITRANS are good regards vishwanathan --- MSR <miinalochanii wrote: > > SaraNAgata vatsalAyai namaH | > > Those who voted for items like (Yes, with some > amendments) or (I have > an alternative idea), please send your amendments or > what you would > like to express, either to the list moderators or to > the list itself. > > Thanks for all your help. > > With best regards, > > Ravi > > > > >
Guest guest
Namo Namah Shri Guru Padukabhyam As written by Sri Vishwanathan, there have been wonderful posts in this forum by several people like Sri Harsha Ramamurthy, Sri Ganapathy and many others . Amba Herself chooses to speak through them by way of this group. Therefore, I feel it is better to have the forum going as it is, or probably in an more improved way. Guest guest
Namasthe. The idea of the Moderators to focus Exclusively for the Next one year on Lalitha Sahasranama Bhasyam is Commendable and is a good theme for the Next one Year. As we are all aware LS is a Super specialized Grantham Of Ambaa composed by Vaak devies dealing in many Super Specialized areas, some of which are : “ Namavalies relating to Advaitha Shastras, Mantra Shastras, namavalies dealing with different Systems of Upasana like Kowlam, Mishram, Samyayam, some Namavalies dealing with Yoga Sutram, Karma Kaandam, some more Namvalies dealing with Sakala Shastra Saram, para Devatha’s description of Prakasha, Vimarsha,Sthula Swarupam, Kamakala swarupam, Mantra Sukshmam and many many areas. “ But the main disadvantage of focusing the discussion ONLY on a superspecialized subject as LS could be : There could be many members who are not exposed to LS for want of initiation or direction from elders or Masters to take to chanting of LS as the case may be and these members may not actively participate as a dynamic working group as presently so. Such members even if it is a minority, could be doing their upasana through chanting of many smaller shlokas composed by Adi Shankara, Abhirama Bhatter or through singing compositions of Muthu Swamy Dikshadar or even a plain Bhakthy with a sincere prayer in their vernacular. We all know Ambaa Om is “ Avayaja Karuna Murthy” . She doesn’t expect that to reach Her, there must be a superspecialized way. She would take anything EQUALLY that we as infants wants to offer Her. These members may have several doubts or want clarification in their Own upasana but may be afraid or be unduly restrained to post under the rule to exclusively dwell only on LS. In the process we may lose the opportunity of helping such devotees or lose their Valuable membership as a Satsangha. Therefore I would like to humbly submit that while the Main Theme is LS for the next year should be maintained, the discussion should also allow all types of posts as it is happening now. Guest guest
Hi, I am not going to say anything here that has not been articulated before, but here goes: 1) I feel blessed to have joined the group at the time that LS discussion is about to take place. I am already excited about the opportunity that will allow me to learn so much from the learned members of this group. I would love to have a deep one year discussion on LS, however, I also feel that there should be enough opportunity for other devotees who do not do LS parayana, to be able to discuss issues that are relevant to their prayers. 2) Also, as has been suggested by another member, pls put up a seperate folder for LS and document all postings there. At the end of one year, I would love for the group to have a nice PDF doc that we can refer to.. After the LS is done, is anyone interested in Soundaryalahiri? I have been trying to learn the meanings of the same, but definitely need help there as well.. Guest guest
Hi : Om Sree Matre Namah This is with respect to the query from Ms Priya Krishnamurthy on Soundaryalahari references. Any number of books are available on this subject that seems to be fairly well researched. However, in my limited reading of Soundaryalahari works these two are outstanding and contrasting. a. Soundaryalahari - A Ramakrishna Mutt publication - by Swami Tapasyananda - it has a nice foreword by Sri Anna Subramanian - a renowned Devi Upaasaka. The speciality of this book is it is based on Laxmidhara's commentary with an analysis of some other commentaries and their differences. This book also has a nice chapter on Kundalini Yoga and specific references to Raja Yoga in the different hymns. The book is in Sanskrit with English translation b. Soundaryalahari - by V K Subramaniam - Motilal Banarasi Dass Publishers - This book has a totally different approach to the subject. It focuses on the Tantric aspects of the hymn and has 50 % of the book devoted to description of Yantras and other mantric aspects of each hymn. This book has Sanskrit text, English transliteration and graphics in English. Book a - is freely available in all Ramakrishna Mutt bookshops, including the one at Central Railway station. Book b - I bought it in the airport bookshop in Mumbai. I am sure several members of this forum can provide other references as well.
