Guest guest
In Volume 6 of "deyvaththin kural" (page 789), paramAchArya highlights an important point. He says that in public discourses, the lecturer should not reveal the rahasyArtha-s (secret meanings) of the text and only give an hint to it. Even while publishing them as books, one should come up with two editions: 1) A general edition that does not contain the secret meanings and other technical details of upAsana, which should be learnt from a guru and 2) A limited edition that contains some of them -- but distributed only to those who have an authorization from elders/guru that s/he can have that text. In general, AchArya deplores the attitude that is mistakenly taken as democratic, which wants that all the matter to published and be available for all the public. -- This is applicable to many works on devI. But we do see that books and even lists such as gives out all details, which otherwise will be accessible only to a limited few. And this trend is only increasing. I think this trend cannot be stopped. Ravi

The scriptures have clear instructions on how the Guru should evaluate a student and how the student should initially evaluate a teacher. That sounds good to hear but reality seems to be way off. We have all kinds of people including nastika-s and those who have nothing but scorn and contempt for mantra/tantra shastra-s who have access to most of the scriptures which are supposed to be kept secret. The Kaula Tantra-s themselves say that in Kali even the most unworthy get initiated as Kaula-s, especailly so in Andhra. We see this happening every now and then. Ex: Shatsahasra samhita(this is a tantric work) and others. I agree with Ravi on the issue of limited and general editions. Regards
Guest guest
I wholeheartedly agree with Satish and Raviji. Just last week, I was searching on the Net for some info on Prathyangara Devi and to my utter dismay and misfortune came across a link where some unfortunate person had used such profanities in conncection with Prathyankara Devi and Ganesha Bhagavan that it can only be called porn.. Yet these people - especially in my home state of TN continue to debase Vedic scriptures and Gods with much gusto. For them, this is one highly amusing endeavor. I used to think that putting things on paper was useful as it would pass onto future generations..but after this horrific incident, I am beginning to realise why shlokas and manthras are passed on to only the worthy.
